Your Complete Guide To The ‘Feud’ Between Kanye West And Jay Z

There's a lot going on there.

Rappers Kanye West and Jay Z can be described as what we could call the Drake and Josh of the hip-hop industry – best pals and ‘bros’ who also kill each other.

A gradual feud has arisen between the two friends who once toured together, and we just have one question: where did it all go so so wrong?

If you’re just as confused as we are, we’ve put together a handy timeline of Kanye and Jay Z’s friendship to keep you well informed and up-to-date.

Where it all began..

Kanye was more or less discovered by Jay Z way back when and was mentored by the more experienced rapper in his earlier days.

He started working as a producer for Jay’s Rock-A-Fella Records before being signed as a rapper to the same label.

Jay and Kanye recorded numerous tracks together including Monster and Run This Town, but their friendship was cemented by music when they released their joint album Watch The Throne in 2011.

They dominated the music scene with song such as N***** In Paris,  Otis, Made In America and No Church In The Wild.

The initial falling out..

People started to question whether Kanye and Jay’s relationship was going a bit icy when Jay and Beyonce failed to show at Kanye and Kim’s wedding in 2014. Kanye has now admitted that he was hurt by the no-show, speaking to Charlamagne Tha God on iHeartRadio’s The Breakfast Club.

“I was hurt about them not coming to the wedding,” he revealed.

I understand they were going through some things, but if it’s family, you’re not going to miss a wedding.

From bad to worse..

After Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in 2016 in Paris, Kanye called out Jay for not supporting him.

During one of his concerts in Seattle, Kanye slammed Jay to his audience.

Don’t call me, after the robbery, and say ‘how you feelin?’ You wanna know how I’m feelin? Come by the house. Bring the kids by the house. Like we’re brothers. Let’s sit down. I can’t take this s*** bro. Our kids have never even played together.

The bad blood between Kanye and Jay Z really heated up when they began to slate each other through their music. Jay’s 2017 album release 4:44 laid down several glaring disses to Kanye, including the allegation that he owed him money.

Kanye hit back at the allegation saying: “That concept that he gave me the money, that’s what frustrated me because actually the money he got it from Live Nation. It was a touring deal.”

Soon after this, Kanye removed all his music from Jay’s streaming platform Tidal.

Making amends..

In the same iHeartRadio show where he talked about the beef between him and Jay, Kanye also claimed the two had made up. He said that although they haven’t seen each other, they text and had sorted things out.

Jay Z also confirmed that the two had made up, saying: “That’s my brother. We’re beyond friends. Really, like, literally my little brother is Kanye. And like your little brother, things happen sometimes.”

We can’t keep up, TBH.
