It's hilariously called 'Once Upon A One More Time'
A Britney Spears musical is coming to Broadway and we simply cannot cope.
The show, titled Once Upon A One More Time, unfortunately won’t follow the rollercoaster of a ride that is Britney Spears’ life, but will use the singer’s back catalogue to populate a story based around a book club made up of fairytale princesses.
According to the New York Times, the show will reportedly feature 23 songs, including some “deep album cuts”. Britney herself has reportedly been in attendance at one of the readings before developmental workshops begin next month.
“I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs – especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore,” Britney has said about the show. “This is a dream come true for me!”
The plot of the musical sees a “rogue fairy godmother” cause the princesses to question their notions of happily ever after. It’s being described as “uproarious” and “irreverent” and will feature a book from Jon Hartmere who wrote this year’s Kevin Hart comedy The Upside.
According to Jon Hartmere, “Cinderella is having an existential crisis, and she has a posse of famous princesses, and her stepmother is the main antagonist, and there’s also Prince Charming and a dwarf we’ve never met — the eighth dwarf — and a narrator who is unhappy his system is being dismantled before his eyes.”

Can you believe that this album was released 20 years ago today??!! I can’t. It’s definitely been the journey of a lifetime, full of ups and downs, but I’m grateful for every single moment of it all. Getting to know you all over the years has been such an incredible experience, and has made this all worth it. Thank you for your support from 20 years ago, all the way to today. I am blessed ❤️ #20yearsofbritney
The production is scheduled to open in Chicago this autumn, before transferring to Broadway. Trip to NYC anyone?
