Harry Styles Fans Are ‘Pleading With’ The Minister To Move The Leaving Cert
Can Harry change the date?
We all know Harry Styles has a major influence on society in general, the return of feather boas, the music we hear on the radio, and now the pop star is potentially impacting the date of the 2023 Leaving Cert exams.
Harry is holding a massive concert in Slane Castle on June 10th next year and Leaving Cert students are concerned that if the exams are held the day before, it may impact those who wish to attend.
Students have been writing letters to the Minister of Education about their concerns for this year’s exams and one of these topics has been the former One Direction star’s concert.
In documents released to the PA news agency under Freedom of Information legislation it can be seen that one student wrote, “I know that the Leaving Certificate examination takes place around this time of year and I am pleading with you, along with the whole nation of Leaving and Junior Certificate students to please do not put an exam on the day before 10th June 2023 as it will cause major impacts on thousands across the country who wish to attend this particular concert.

“I hope you understand the impact this concern has on thousands of people that find comfort in Harry Styles and love his music. I myself missed a lot of school in my fifth year because of Covid-related issues, missing out on a lot of education that I would have got in a normal year
“I write this email on behalf of all Irish Harry Styles fans.”
This isn’t the first time a gig involving Mr Styles has led to people want to work around it. For the 2014 One Direction gig in Croke Park, parents in a Limerick primary school requested that their children’s first Communion be moved three weeks early so that they could attend the concert.

Although, these requests weren’t met as a ballot went around the parents and majority voted to keep the original date of May 24th according to The Independent.
So, what will happen here? Shall there be a ballot sent to Leaving Cert students? We can already guess what the results might be…
