Where is Euphoria season 3? That’s the million-dollar question frustrating fans who’ve waited three years for answers.

To put things into perspective, the last time we watched Rue, Jules, and the rest of the Euphoria crew navigate their chaotic lives was in January 2022. Since then, rumours, delays, and tragic losses have clouded the series’ highly anticipated return.

So, what’s been happening, and do we even want it at this stage?

A Five-Year Time Jump and a New Era

According to HBO, Euphoria Season 3 is very much in the works. A representative for the network confirmed late last year that filming was expected to begin in mid-to-late January 2025, with the premiere tentatively planned to drop in 2026. That’s another year of waiting, a timeline that has understandably frustrated fans.

What’s more intriguing, however, is the rumoured five-year time jump that will take the characters far from their high school days. Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) is said to be training as a police officer, and one can only imagine the chaos this will bring. Meanwhile, actress Evie Faris has confirmed she’ll join the cast as Emma, a new character whose role remains tightly under wraps.

Filming Locations

In an unexpected twist, part of Euphoria season 3 will reportedly be filmed in Ireland, marking an exciting departure from the show’s usual US-based settings.

The Long Hall pub on Dublin’s South Great George’s Street is said to feature prominently, promising a unique European backdrop that could lend a fresh cultural layer to the series. So keep your eyes peeled if you are in the area, you may end up rubbing shoulders with the stars while they’re on their break.

Additionally, parts of the season will be shot in Toronto, Canada, further expanding the show’s geographical footprint. This mix of locations raises an array of possibilities about the direction of the storyline. Could we see Rue and Jules in an entirely different world?

While these developments remain shrouded in mystery, one thing is clear: the shift in filming locales suggests a bold evolution for Euphoria’s visual and narrative style. Time will tell if these changes will deliver the same allure that fans fell in love with.

Cast Shake-Ups and Challenges

Notably, Barbie Ferreira, who played fan-favourite Kat Hernandez, will not be returning for season 3. Her departure, reportedly due to creative differences with showrunner Sam Levinson, marks a significant loss for the show. Kat’s journey was a vital component of Euphoria’s complex web of storylines, and her absence will undoubtedly leave a void.

Then there’s the tragic passing of Angus Cloud, who brought the beloved Fezco to light. His death sparked conversations among fans, with many suggesting the series should end entirely. The loss of Cloud is a devastating blow, and how the series addresses his absence remains to be seen.

Behind-the-Scenes Delays: Do We Still Care?

The cast of Euphoria is as high-profile as it gets, which means scheduling conflicts have only added to the delays. According to Variety, the plan was to allow the actors to complete their other projects throughout 2024 before diving into filming in 2025. While this strategy makes sense, it’s left fans feeling “over” the series.

For a show that exploded onto the scene with its daring visuals, boundary-pushing storytelling, and powerhouse performances, Euphoria now faces an uphill battle. With nearly three years between seasons, fan enthusiasm has waned. Many are questioning whether its moment has passed.

There’s also the challenge of honouring the legacy of Angus Cloud while navigating a cast and creative team that has, understandably, grown and evolved. The rumoured five-year time jump could breathe fresh life into the new season, but will it be enough to reignite the spark?

The Final Verdict

For now, Euphoria season 3 remains an enigma, a tantalising mix of anticipation and uncertainty. On one hand, the promise of closure and reinvention looms large, with a potential to redefine the series as it ventures into new narratives and unexplored emotional depths. On the other hand, significant hurdles cloud its future: the departure of beloved cast members, the tragic loss of Angus Cloud, and prolonged delays that have left fans restless.

The show’s path forward is undeniably complex. Yet, for every frustrated viewer ready to move on, there’s another holding onto the hope that Sam Levinson and his creative team can deliver a season that honours the legacy of Euphoria while pushing its boundaries further than before.

Only time will tell if Euphoria can once again take our breath away, or if it’s time to let the glitter fade for good.
