5 Of Our Fav TV Shows Turning 20 This Year

Time flies when a good show is on!

Now that we’re well into 2025, we were wondering how old some of our favourite series and sitcoms were.

To our surprise many of our top ones are turning twenty this year! Here’s five of our favs.

Grey’s Anatomy

Still running to this day with twenty one seasons under its belt, Grey’s Anatomy has been one of the most influential television shows of this generation. Of course many of the original cast is no longer involved in the show after twenty years of filming however, Ellen Pompeo has remained the star of the show the whole way through.

In May of 2024 Craig Erwich, Disney TV Groups President, said that season twenty one is “not at all” the end of the TV show so we expect at least a few more seasons before the shows finale. You can stream all twenty one seasons of Grey’s on Disney Plus.

Prison Break

Starring Wentworth Miler and Dominic Purcell, Prison Break ran for five seasons and was a major success for Fox. Fans fell in love with watching the fascinating Michael Schofield attempt to break free from the walls of his own prison cell.

The show released seasons 1-4 from 2005-2009 and returned in 2017 to release their finale season. There was rumours of a sixth season of the show being released in 2018 however, this theory has unfortunately been shot down as the reboot of season five did nowhere near as well as the original four seasons. How I Met Your Mother

One of our favourite classic sitcoms, How I Met Your Mother, will be turning twenty this year. The show lasted for nine seasons with its finale in march of 2014.

Ted, Barney, Robin, Lily and Marshall graced our screens and lives for many years with their witty banter and elaborate storylines. We think this show’s anniversary is a sign for a rewatch. You can stream How I Met Your Mother and its spin off show How I Met Your Father starring Hillary Duff on Disney Plus.

Criminal Minds

Suspenseful, creepy and gut wrenching. American crime drama series Criminal Minds first arrived on our screens in 2005 and lasted for 15 seasons with majority of its original cast. In 2022 the franchise released a new show Criminal Minds: Evolution, bringing back a few members of the original cast as well as some new characters.

We have been given a new case each episode for seventeen seasons now with no rumours of the show ending. You can stream both the original fifteen seasons and the new two on Disney Plus and Paramount Plus.

The Office (US)

Based off of the Ricky Gervais’ UK version, The Office was released twenty years ago this year! Throughout the nine seasons of this iconic sitcom we saw relationships blossom, friendships crumble and could not keep our laughter in even when we tried.

Starring Steve Carell, John Krasinski and many more, The Office allowed us to step in to a small paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The show’s finale was in 2013 with an emotional episode which moved its entire audience. You can stream this iconic sitcom on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
