Sorry Everyone, But This Week Is The Least You’re Going To Weigh All Year
It's all downhill from here guys.
Chances are, if you’re anything like me, you’ll have spent months working on your summer bod in some small way or another. But as the cold weather sets in and the comfort of Pumpkin Spiced Lattes beckon, the dreams of maintaining that hard earned bod may well be just that; a dream.
Fortunately, if there’s one small nugget of comfort that’s to come with the inevitable post-summer weight gain that looms, then it’s this: you’re not alone.
See according to a study by Cornell University, the weight gain that’s synonymous with this time of year is pretty much a universal thing.
In fact, to get really exact about it, the study has found that this week specifically you’ll weigh less than you will for the rest of year.
But why?
Jeans Feeling Tighter? Here’s How To Tell If It’s Weight Gain Or Just Bloating
Well the researchers claim that by late September/early October most of us have worked off any extra pounds from our annual summer holidays, but come the end of the month we increase our calorie intakes as we prepare for festivities like Halloween and Christmas.
The really bad news is that, while it’s super easy to pile on the pounds over the next couple of weeks, it may take much longer to work them off.
In fact, Professor Brian Wansink explains that “Anything that happens in these next 10 weeks, on average, takes about five months to come off.”
Oh goody.
The study concludes that your weight will peak to it’s highest right after New Year’s Eve. Ah, just in time for the annual “I’m joining the gym” resolution then so.
