Gardaí Have Issued Safety Warnings After A ‘Sexual Assault’ In South Dublin Last Night
The attack happened around 5.45pm yesterday evening.
Gardaí in south Dublin are appealing for witnesses to an alleged sexual assault in south Dublin.
A woman in her forties contacted Gardaí after a lone man attacked her in the Bayview Estate in Killiney yesterday evening, January 31st around 5.45pm. She managed to fight him off and struck him a number of times, but sustained minor injuries, according to The Journal.
Gardaí in Shankill have set up an incident room to investigate the incident, and have taken a number of statements. They are further investigating with the aid of CCTV and door-to-door inquiries.
This is the second “serious incident” in the Killiney area this year, local councillor Cormac Devlin of Fianna Fáil said.
In a statement to media he asked the public to “remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Gardaí,” and added that the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown needed to reconsider the lighting in the Killiney and Shankill area to ensure it was fit for purpose.
“I have also asked Garda management to step up patrols, particularly mountain bike patrols around Killiney Hill and the adjacent Dart stations” he said.
