‘Sister, Sister’ Star Tamera Mowry-Housley Shares That Her Niece Was Killed In Thousand Oaks Mass Shooting

Alaina Housley was 18-years-old.

Tamera Mowry-Housley and her husband Adam Housley have confirmed the death of their niece, Alaina Housley, who was one of the victims killed on Wednesday in a mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, California.

The couple released the following statement to Us Weekly:

“Our hearts are broken. We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night’s shooting at Borderline Bar in Thousand Oaks. Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner. We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time.”

Before learning about Alaina’s death, Tamera and Adam used social media to learn the whereabouts of their niece, who was missing for several hours.

Just hours earlier, the ‘Sister, Sister’ actress contacted Alaina’s college suitemate, Ashley, on Twitter. “My suitemate is still missing, she is wearing denim shorts, a blue flannel and sneakers, pls let me know if you know anything,” Ashley tweeted.

“Ashely this is her aunt Tamera Mowry Housley. Can you please DM me your information?” Tamera wrote back.

Meanwhile Adam, a former Fox News correspondent asked his followers for prayers before the news was confirmed.

Tamera mourned the loss of her niece on Instagram yesterday, posting pictures of the 18-year-old and writing: “you are gonna make one gorgeous angel.”

CNN reports that 12 people were killed in the mass shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill Wednesday night. Police identified the shooter as a 28-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and an investigation to determine the motive is still ongoing.
