Hello, 2028?

Marvel Studios has officially unveiled the cast of its highly anticipated X-Men reboot, giving fans their first look at the actors who will bring Marvel’s iconic mutant team back to the big screen.

The new film was announced as part of the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23 2026 in Anaheim, California, where Marvel Studios revealed the long-awaited lineup of stars taking on some of the franchise’s most recognisable characters.

With the film set to arrive in cinemas on May 5, 2028, here’s everything you need to know about the new X-Men cast – and where you might recognise them from.

Sadie Sink as Jean Grey

Fans of Netflix’s Stranger Things will immediately recognise Sadie Sink, who is set to return as Jean Grey in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot.

Sink first rose to fame playing Max Mayfield in Stranger Things, quickly becoming one of the show’s standout stars. She has since appeared in films including The Whale and the Fear Street trilogy.

But Marvel fans will already know Sink as Jean Grey, having made her MCU debut as the mutant in Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July this year. Her appearance introduced the character to the MCU before Marvel officially announced her return as Jean in the new X-Men film.

Away from the screen, Sink has also taken to the stage, most recently playing Juliet in London’s West End production of Romeo + Juliet alongside Noah Jupe.

Now, Sink is set to take centre stage as one of Marvel’s most powerful mutants

Adam Driver as Mister Sinister

One of the biggest names joining the X-Men universe is Adam Driver, who will take on the role of Nathaniel Milbury, better known as the supervillain Mister Sinister.

Driver first rose to prominence as Adam Sackler in HBO’s Girls, earning three consecutive Primetime Emmy nominations for his performance. However, he became a household name after being cast as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, appearing in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

The American actor has also received two Academy Award nominations, for his performances in BlacKkKlansman and Marriage Story. He has since become known for taking on a wide range of dramatic roles, making his move into the Marvel universe an especially exciting one.

Kit Connor as Cyclops

Kit Connor is swapping the world of teenage romance for superhero action as he takes on the role of Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops.

The English actor is best known for playing Nick Nelson in Netflix’s hit coming-of-age series Heartstopper, which follows the relationship between Nick and Charlie Spring.

Connor has also recently been on the stage, starring as Romeo in the Broadway production of Romeo + Juliet alongside Rachel Zegler. The modern revival was directed by Sam Gold, with music by Jack Antonoff.

Now, Connor is heading into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as one of the X-Men’s central figures.

Maya Boyd as Storm

Making her big-screen debut in the Marvel universe is Maya Boyd, who has been cast as Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm.

Boyd is an American theatre actress who made her Broadway debut in Merrily We Roll Along before going on to play Juliet Capulet in & Juliet.

While audiences may not recognise her from film or television just yet, Boyd has already established herself on the stage. Her casting as Storm marks her feature-film debut, putting her firmly on the Hollywood radar.

Inde Navarrette as Rogue

Inde Navarrette is another rising star joining the X-Men universe, taking on the role of Rogue (Anna Marie).

Navarrette recently rose to prominence after starring as Nikki in the supernatural horror film Obsession, which became a major box-office success, earning 495 million despite its reported $750,000 budget.

She has also appeared in sombr’s music video for ‘My Body Isn’t Ready’ and featured alongside singer Malcolm Todd in Gap’s recent Denim on Your Own campaign.

Her casting as Rogue is set to be another major breakthrough for the young actress.

Christopher Abbott as Professor X

Taking on the role of the X-Men’s legendary leader, Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, is Christopher Abbott.

Abbott is perhaps best known for his work in HBO’s Girls, where he played Charlie Dattolo, as well as for his acclaimed performances in projects including The Sinner, Catch-22 and Possessor.

The American actor has built a reputation for taking on complex and often intense roles, making his casting as Professor X an intriguing choice for Marvel.

Abbott has also recently welcomed a child with his partner, actress Aubrey Plaza.

Samara Weaving as Emma Frost

Australian actress Samara Weaving is bringing her horror credentials to the X-Men universe as Emma Frost.

Weaving first became known to Australian audiences through the long-running soap Home and Away before making the move to Hollywood.

She later became particularly recognisable as a modern scream queen, starring in horror and comedy-horror favourites including The Babysitter, Mayhem, Ready or Not and Scream VI.

Most recently, she reprised her role in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, making her casting as Emma Frost a particularly fitting addition to Marvel’s new mutant lineup.

With a cast combining established Hollywood stars, rising actors and some of the biggest names in television and theatre, Marvel’s new X-Men are already shaping up to be one of the MCU’s most anticipated new additions.

Now, fans will have to wait until May 5, 2028 to see this new generation of mutants make their big-screen debut.
