Gigi Hadid Will Potentially Be A Juror During Harvey Weinstein’s Trial

Gigi's close friend Cara Delevingne is amongst the many women who have accused Weinstein of assault

Gigi Hadid was reportedly called for jury duty yesterday for the Harvey Weinstein rape trial.

Currently taking place in New York, Gigi is reported to be amongst 116 other juror potentials.

Reported by Variety, Gigi is said to have been spotted “in the hallway entering the courtroom.” Inside, Gigi was apparently then questioned by judge James Burke on whether or not she felt able to Jude Harvey Weinstein fairly, to which she replied:

“I think I’m still able to keep an open mind on the facts.”

Gigi was also one of two people who raised their hand when asked if they knew the defendant or member of prosecution, “I have met Salma Hayek and possibly Ryan Beatty” she responded.

The trial began last week, more than two years after both The New York Times and The New Yorker published reports which detailed Weinstein’s cases of sexual harassment, assault and rape allegations.

The revelations went on to spark worldwide outrage, lending its hand to the beginning of the #MeToo movement, a movement against sexual harassment and assault. The film producer however went on to plead not guilty to five accounts.

Gigi’s fellow model friend, Cara Delevingne is one of the many women involved in the accusations made against Harvey. Cara has previously spoken openly about her personal experiences of sexual harassment from the film producer, claiming that he persistently tried to grope and kiss her without consent.

It’s yet to be confirmed if Gigi will serve jury duty on the case or not, however, we are aware that she is still required to return to the court this Thursday for further questioning.
