Here’s What Olivia Rodrigo’s Ex Boyfriend Has To Say About Her Music

It's clear he wants no part to play in her success.

Joshua Bassett has opened up about Olivia Rodrigo and their relationship.

The pair star on High School Musical The Series on Disney+ but after Olivia released Driver’s License, everyone was convinced the song was about their relationship and him dating Sabrina Carpenter.

Though they both mostly stayed vague when it came to questions about their relationship, Joshua is speaking out about how all that drama made him feel.

“People don’t know anything they’re talking about,” he told GQ.

He admitted that “the hardest thing” has been keeping quiet about the rumors.

Joshua went on to say that it’s hard to talk about it without adding to the gossip.

“The reality is it’s kind of like a lost cause trying to talk about any of that stuff, and I refuse to feed into any of the bullsh*t, so I just don’t,” Joshua said.

He did get people talking however, when he removed a song he made with Sabrina Carpenter from his album, explaining why, he told Billboard:

“I didn’t want my EP to be overshadowed by some other narrative that people were trying to make.”

He added while speaking to GQ that everyone “is asking me about Sabrina and Olivia, Why don’t we focus on these women for who they are? Let’s focus on the art that they’re making and how great they are instead of their relationship to a boy.”
