6 Totally Batsh*t Make-up Trends You’re Going To Be Seeing Everywhere In 2016

Be prepared lady friend: make-up is taking a turn for the weird next year.

2015 was a helluva year for make-up trends, from multi-masking to clown contouring we’ve definitely seen it all! So, what does 2016 have in store for us? Well, these six make-up trends are going be huge next year. Whether that’s a good thing or not, we’re not so sure…

1. Blue eyeshadow

‘8os flashback alert! Chanel have (almost) made blue eye shadow look good again, with their models sporting electric blue bandit masks on their spring/summer catwalk. We’ll admitt, it does look pretty cool, but it’s certainly not a look we’ll be adding to our everyday routine.

2. Gold Lips

This expected trend for 2016 has tongues wagging in the fashion industry, but we’re a little bit skeptical.  Sure, we’re all for being adventurous but we think Prada was being just a little bit too adventurous when they had their models wearing gold lipstick on the runway. Us? We’ll be sticking to our classic red. Soz, Prada.

3. Colourful brows

We can say with absolute certainty that we will not be trying out this one! Make-up artist Tom Pecheux tried out colourful brows in MaxMara’s spring/summer 2016 show. From bright orange to fluro green, he left nothing to the imagination when it came to the models. We’re all for a bold brow but this is taking it to the extreme, no?

4. Skinny brows

Getting flashbacks to your 15-year-old self with over plucked brows? So are we! This wacky trend hit the YSL catwalk a few weeks ago and we’d deffo prefer if it just stayed there. The YSL make-up artists totally concealed the model’s own brow and drew a skinny, dark line on top of it. We don’t see this trend sticking around for long. It’s bushy, Delevingne-worthy brows all the way for us.

5. Exaggerated lashes

Just when we thought lashes could do no wrong Thomas Tait proved us oh so wrong. The designer brought exaggerated ’60s inspired lashes to the catwalk, which wouldn’t be that bad if they didn’t add falsies to the bottom lashes as well! We think its best to stick to what you know and keep those falsies soley on top.

6. Hungover party make-up

The key to this look is smudging your eyeshadow and eye liner and applying tonnes and tonnes of mascara. We prefer the preened look though, and sadly this trend doesn’t give you permission to wear  your make-up from the night before right through to the next morning. Damn.
