7 ‘Treat Yourself’ Items That Make The Perfect Investment Right Now

Because we deserve to treat ourselves, right? Simples!

If you’re one of the lucky ones who have the option to work from home right now, you might find yourself with a bit of extra cash. Even if you are out working, there’s less morning coffees to go, no endless options of lunches to choose from, and less petrol being put in the car, because well, there’s nowhere to go really. So what to do with that extra dough? We could save it, or invest it, OR we could treat ourselves by investing in something that’s been on our wishlist for what seems like forever. If you’re not sure where to start, here are seven products that are worth investing in right now.

Spirit & Grace

Spirit & Grace, the new designer who hosts all ethically-made and created in small batches to slow fashion down a little. The designer wanted to fill the gap between the culture of cheap throwaway fashion and the serious investment pieces in luxury fashion. Think somewhere between high street steals and luxury investment pieces. Playful, yet timeless designs. The ideal label for all the postponed event we have coming up, from weddings to christenings and everything in between. You’re sure to find the perfect look.

Spanx Leggings

Yes, we know everyone and their mam has a pair. BUT, it’s for a pretty good reason. They’re oh so worth the hype. Granted, they’re not the most perfect item for summer months (if we get to enjoy the Leaving Cert weather, without the Leaving Cert that is), but you’ll be able to wear them basically every other season of the year. The Moto ones will add a chic edge to any look, dare I say.

Spotlight Sonic Toothbrush

Granted, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of treating myself isn’t a toothbrush. But, this certainly is an investment that the future you will thank you for. Created by Lisa and Vanessa Creaven, two Galway based dentists, the Spotlight Sonic Toothbrush is a great investment. Ut uses professionally designed sonic technology which allows the gentle feel of a manual toothbrush with an actual deep clean effect. Efficient, high-frequency brush movements ensure both toothpaste and oxygen are delivered to even the most inaccessible places. With 70-day battery life, three changeable heads, and a travel case it’s super handy (especially for travel, when that happens again!). At €120, it’s money well spent for sparkling clean teeth. Plus, you can now even get them personalised.

GHD Hairbrush

I recently bought a GHD hairbrush for blowdrying my hair and without being dramatic, it’s basically changed my life. It’s made blowdrying hair ten times easier, and faster. The brush itself works like a dream, designed by specialist brush makers to make styling easy. You can work it easily through your hair, without any awkwardness. By some form of magic, it also retains some heat from the hairdryer so your hair dries quicker than ever. Life changed, just like that.

Freddy Jeans

Hi, my name is Amie and I’m a Freddy Jeans convert. I got my first pair of Freddy Jeans just before Christmas, and I was instantly obsessed. Admittedly, the pair I chose reminded me more of leggings than jeans, and my first thought when I took them out of the packaging was that they wouldn’t go past my knee let alone make it up to my hips. But after a little wiggle into them, I was seriously impressed. They’re almost like shapewear, but they don’t need to be covered up. Super soft and comfortable, but sculpt everything in the right place. Such a great investment, you’ll be living in ’em! They have also just launched a new pair called the N.O.W Jegging 5 Pocket, and come in cheaper than their other styles at €79.90.

UGG Slippers

Never, in my life, did I think I’d spend more than good, reliable Penneys prices on a pair of slippers. Then BANG, lockdown happened and I was thrown into a life where I spent probably more than 12 hours a day in my slippers. So I thought, sure why not treat myself? I did my research, asked around for opinions, and a few days later I felt like a child at Christmas opening up the box that contained my brand new fluffy UGG slippers. Fast forward a few weeks later and here I am, recommending to you that if you’ve got some spare money floating about, and you’re in the market for dreamy new slippers, then look no further.

White & Green

I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent a lot more time either lying on or in my bed lately. It’s the comfiest spot in my little apartment, but the longer I lay there, the more my bedsheets start to annoy me. I’ve never been one to invest in bedcovers, but this lockdown might be changing that. White & Green bed linen is known as the best of the best. Founded by Irish interior designer Sari Winckworth and her daughters, they produce the softest bedding, throws, towels, bathrobes and more, using 100% Organic and Fairtrade cotton. They are dedicated to sustainability, ethical production and fair pay for their workers, whilst making luxury products that are designed to do good in the world and last customers for years and years, wash after wash. Ideal, really.
