In a brand new documentary called The Pill, UK presenter Davina McCall dives in to investigate the myths and misconceptions surrounding present day birth control to discover once and for all if it really provides the proper standard of care women should expect.

Davina investigates the current contraception conversation after recently speaking out about her own menopause journey.

While the pill was a revolutionary form of contraception when it first came onto the market nearly 60 years ago, now, many women have decided they don’t want to alter their natural hormone balance by adding anything synthetic to their bodies.

The pill is one of the most popular forms of contraception but unfortunately has many adverse side effects for those who choose to take it.

Side effects include the likes of mood swings, anxiety, mental and emotional exhaustion as well as a loss of sex drive.

Yet, many feel like the pill is the only option when it comes to effective birth control, when in fact there are countless other options out there that just aren’t as talked about.

The Pill premiered on Channel 4 on June 8th at 9pm. It looked into the state of contraception in the UK and the lack of accessibility for many people across the country.

In a study done as part of the research for the new documentary, it was found that out of 4,000 people, who were asked about the effects contraception had on their mental and physical health and the availability of information and solutions, more than 50 percent of people had stopped taking oral medication as a form of contraception.

The documentary was announced as a part of a number of new hard hitting, informative shows on Channel 4. The British station is known for its controversial yet eye opening documentary and this one is no different.
