Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia Sequels Officially Announced
Disney CEO, Bob Iger announced on Wednesday that some of their most beloved movie franchises will be getting sequels in the near future.
Animated film lovers will be delighted to hear Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia sequels are in the works.
The Toy Story franchise consists of 4 consecutive movies following Andy’s toys as they embark on adventures in the real world. Toy Story 3 & 4 combined gained a massive sum of $1 billion at the worldwide box office. With such love for the movie the creators decided to create a spin off story called Lightyear that premiered in 2022.
Unfortunately it underperformed and so pushed Disney to return to the much loved Toy Story for a fifth instalment.
Tim Allen tweeted his excitement at reprising his voice role as Buzz Lightyear for a 5th movie saying “See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity”.

A release date has not been announced but if we’re to go on previous timelines it could be 2028 before we see our favourite characters back on screen for some new adventures.
Frozen debuted in 2013 and instantly became a roaring success becoming the biggest grossing Pixar or Disney animated film ever at $1.2 billion. The sequel Frozen 2 increased on that in 2019 grossing a whopping total of $1.4 billion.
The Frozen franchise was such a success with children and adults alike for its strong and relatable characters and easily followed story that it was expanded into a Disney on Ice show, Broadway show, added numerous short films to the portfolio and a repertoire of books to be enjoyed by all – is it any wonder there’s a third film on the way?
Like Toy Story no release date has been announced but if we’re to take previous timelines into account it could be 2026 or 2027 before we see Olaf back on the big screen.
Zootopia, the Disney animated movie follows the story of a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox in a city of anthropomorphic animals, as they work together to uncover a conspiracy. The film was a huge hit raking in $1.025 billion at the worldwide box office even adding a Disney + series to the mix.
There are many more adventures for our favourite bunny Judy hops to go on with the animals of New York which we hope to see in the second instalment of the franchise, with the movie in production it’s likely it will come to our screens faster than Toy Story or Frozen but we shouldn’t respect a release date earlier than 2024.
