The first Monday in May has always been one of the most glamorous and iconic Mondays of the year. If you love fashion and statement pieces, then you have been counting down the days to May 1st just like us. With a change of dress code each year, the Met Gala has become one of the biggest A-list events in the world.

This year’s theme Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, will remember German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld was well known for his work as creative director of the French fashion house Chanel, taking on the role in 1983 until he sadly passed away in 2019. His 36-year reign held many memorable moments, from walking the runway with Cara Delevingne to creating one-of-a-kind pieces for Chanel.

With only two weeks to go, we are sure all of the guests and designers are working tirelessly to ensure this year’s theme is honoured. If you haven’t received your invite yet, do not worry we are sure it is on the way.

Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue is also a chairwoman of the Gala event since 1995. Wintour holds the invitations to this iconic event and oversees the guest list. A ticket to the Met is usually priced at $35,000, this event is used to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s fashion department. Often, designers will buy tables and invite celebs to come along. There are usually 500 guests in attendance, but don’t forget the iconic after party too. Yes, you heard us correctly, most celebrities will attend an after party. Of course, this will require a change of clothes.

From Blake Lively to Kim Kardashian this year as well as previous years, the guests will step onto the famous Met carpet in style. Sticking by theme, many other fashion designers will be working closely with their celebrity to achieve a look that will honour their dear friend Karl Lagerfeld.

Over here at STELLAR, we are so excited to see familiar faces returning to the steps of the Met as well as some new faces too. We are also delighted to hopefully see Emma Chamberlain return to Vogue’s livestream as Vogue’s special correspondent. I mean will we ever forget Emma’s run-in with Jack Harlow at last year’s Met Gala?
