The era of the reboot is well and truly happening now. So, we can’t help but wonder if fan favourite tv show The Vampire Diaries would ever come back to our screens, picking up where it left off.

Well it seems Paul Wesley who played the titular role of Stefan Salvator has point blank squashed any possibility of that happening.

The actor who rose to fame while playing brooding vampire Stefan Salvatore alongside Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder from 2009 to 2017, told InStyle that it would be a “hard pass” from him.

He said: “I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone Vampire Diaries.”

The Vampire Diaries spanned an impressive eight seasons from 2009 to 2017 and even secured its own spin-off show The Originals, a very popular show on The CW. The Originals eventually gained its own spin-off entitled Legacies. As of now there are no plans announced by the franchise to reboot the shows.

In the same interview with InStyle Paul said: “I don’t really miss anything about playing him, and I don’t mean that in a [negative way]. Eight years is a long time, and I’m so glad to put that to rest. Eight seasons.”

Adding: “But I loved how dynamic he was. Because the show ran for such a long time, in order for it to not become monotonous, every season, he sort of had a different arc. At one point he was pure evil, and he started out as the good guy and then he ended as the good guy. But I liked the challenge of trying to keep the character fresh.”

Despite there being no chance of a reboot, Paul still attends cast reunions at fan conventions and remains friends with Nina and Ian, the latter who he shares the bourbon brand Brother’s Bond with.

The 44 year old, who played Stefan’s brother Damon Salvatore on the show, spoke about the possibility of a reboot in 2021.

In an interview with Andy Cohen on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy, Ian said:  “What would happen? Damon has like, grey hair and they have canes, like, ‘Oh, I gotta feed the baby. Listen, it ran a great course and now it’s still living. That’s what so amazing.”

Our little vampire hearts just died a little.
