Priyanka Chopra Reveals Nick Jonas Slid Into Her Dms During Her Last Relationship

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has opened up about her relationship prior to meeting Nick Jonas, that relationship’s status when Nick slid into her DMs and how she initially didn’t want to get into a relationship with him.

While speaking on the latest episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Priyanka took a trip down memory lane recalling exactly how she first started chatting to her ‘Lovebug’ husband Nick Jonas: “He slid into my DMs on Twitter”.

The couple first connected in 2016, a full year after Nick’s breakup with Olivia Culpo and during Priyanka’s last relationship with an unknown person which has been described as “tumultuous” by the celebrity.

Speaking about the relationship she said: “I was in a tumultuous relationship at that time. We had common friends who didn’t want me to be in my relationship and were like, ‘Oh, he’s single too. He’s really not with that girl but he is.’ It was complicated on both our ends”.

Priyanka noted in the most recent interview that her exes were a complete mix of good, bad and ugly even describing some of them as  “a little bit narcissistic,” she continued saying “I kept making the same mistakes. A lot of the pattern in my relationships was me feeling gaslit, because I gave that kind of power to the people that I was with, where I was like, ‘You come first'”.

The Indian born actress added that she looked both inwards and outwards before getting together officially with her now husband Nick Jonas in 2018: “The last relationship and the year and a half that I took before I met my husband, officially gave me so much clarity on what I needed; not what I wanted”.

She admitted to having doubts about getting together with the 30-year-old for a long time due to their 10-year age gap: “When Nick texted me in like 2016 and slid into my DMs, I was at the end of my last long relationship before Nick, so I didn’t want to engage as much at that time. I was also like 35. Nick was 25. I really put a stop to it in a way because I judged the book by its cover. I was like, ‘I wanna settle down. I’ve been there. I’ve done the fun dating thing'”.

The pair kept in touch and even hung out at the 2017 Met Gala together, before going official in 2018. They wed later that year in a lavish ceremony over a number of days to honour both Nick’s and Priyanka’s heritage separately.

She adds that she really had nothing to worry about in her initial worry of a large age gap between the pair considering the SOS singer is “actually a 70-year-old man stuck in a 30-year-old’s body”.
