This Emotional Moment From Adele’s Concert Has Us Tearing Up

Grab the tissues...

We didn’t expect to be tearing up on a Monday morning, but here we are!

Adele concerts are bound to be an emotional one with her ballads and that iconic voice, the emotion in the room is evident in a new viral video from one of her recent Las Vegas residency shows. The clip shows a man holding up a picture of his wife on his phone while Adele is performing and walks past the crowd.

The man holds his hand over his heart as Adele sings her song When We Were Young. With many people trying to catch her attention, it took the singer a moment to realise what she had seen and when she returned to the stage she gave a shoutout to the man.

Holding back the tears she said, “This is for you sir, who’s showing me his wife on his phone” as she continued to sing. Getting emotional she later added, “When I walk through the crowd, I wish you could see what I can see because I know I talk to a few people every night but then I just see little stories of people happening. And there was a man, he’s just there can you see him holding his phone up.

“I think that’s his wife on his phone and I don’t think she’s here and it just really moved me. It looks like you’re here on your own and I’m so so sorry.

“I’m so sorry for your loss, and I’m so sorry I didn’t realise what you were showing me until I was already over there. Sorry, but it’s like I see these little pockets of people’s lives when I walk through and it’s so beautiful.”

And we’re off again (sob).

Adele is currently in the middle of her Vegas residency, which is set to run until March 2023, after which she plans to change up her career a little.

During a Q&A last year she explained, “After Vegas, I really want to get a degree in English Literature. If I hadn’t made it in my singing, I think I would definitely be a teacher. I think I’d be an English Lit teacher.

“I definitely feel like I use my passion of English Lit in what I do. But even though it’s not like I’d go on to get a job from my degree, I wish I had gone to university, I wish I’d had that experience. I won’t go to a university, I’ll do it online and with a tutor, but that’s my plan for 2025. It’s just to get the qualifications.”
