Why Is Tom Holland Taking A Year Long Break From Acting?
“It was a tough time, for sure.”
Tom Holland recently announced he would be taking a break from the acting world for the next year after filming for his latest project took a severe toll on him.
The much loved Spiderman actor revealed filming The Crowded Room took a toll on his mental health and he’s taking the next year off to rest and recuperate.
In an interview with Extra Tom revealed: “It was a tough time, for sure. We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before. Then on top of that, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day problems that come with any film set, just added that extra level of pressure.”

In the new Apple TV+ series Tom plays a man, Danny Sullivan, who has been arrested in connection with a shooting in late-70s New York. We get a look deep inside the character’s life as a result of a series of interrogations led by Detective Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried).
While he feels he has faced a number of challenges Tom says he is incredibly proud of the cast and crew for the work they put into The Crowded Room.
I’m no stranger to hard work. I’ve always lived by this idea that hard work is good work. And I really enjoyed it. But then again, the show did break me. There did come a time where it sort of was like, ‘I need to have a break’.”
This isn’t the first time the talented actor has implemented life restrictions to better his mental health.

Last August he announced he would be taking a break from social media saying: “I have taken a break from social media for my mental health, because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming.”
He continued saying: “I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online. And ultimately, it’s very detrimental to my mental state. So, I’ve decided to take a step back and delete the apps.”
Wishing you a calming and healing year ahead Tom!
