Brow Lifts Have Been Revealed As Ireland’s Fastest Growing Cosmetic Surgery Trend
But they aren't the only procedure to see major rises in the past year.
If you’re anything like us, you apply your moisturiser every morning religiously, you love make-up and you’re partial to the odd treatment or two, but would you go under the knife in the name of beauty?
Today, a new study from WhatClinic.com has revealed that a growing number of us here in Ireland are opting for cosmetic surgery, and topping the list of the fastest growing procedures are eyebrow lifts, a procedure that corrects sagging skin on the brow bone. Requests for this surgery increased in demand by 440% last year.
That’s a pretty hefty rise, right?
But that’s not the only procedure cosmetic surgeons are being asked for more and more. Second on the list of procedures that are growing in popularity was another eye treatment; eyelid surgery, which had an increase of 188% in enquiries.
Other procedures that were on the rise last year were mini facelifts (167%), butt lifts (150%) and breast reduction (138%).
So why the sudden rise?
“Many patients feel uncomfortable, embarrassed or upset about certain aspects of their bodies,” says Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Mr John Curran, “so these procedures can make really positive changes to their quality of life.”
Speaking on the data, WhatClinic.com director Emilly Ross explains that “this is an industry that moves quickly and demand is high, but in some cases, so is the risk. That’s why it’s so important for patients to have realistic expectations, and to not be swayed by offers or deals. Sometimes it’s better to wait for the ’latest’ thing to become tried and tested before you sign on the dotted line.”
The bottom line if you’re thinking about surgery? “Nothing is risk free,” reminds Emily, “so start by researching the treatment. Reading reviews is a good way to start!”
That sounds like pretty sound advice to us.
