Butter yellow is having a moment and we are here for it! This soft, creamy shade somewhere between a pastel gold and warm vanilla is making its way back to gracing runways and red carpets.

Once considered a delicate, almost vintage-y colour, butter yellow is now becoming a statement colour for 2025, embraced by designers and stylists alike who are adding this soft colour to recent collections.

One of the best examples of this statement colour comes from none other than Sabrina Carpenter. She has been serving major butter yellow moments, effortlessly turning this soft and delicate colour into a full-on fashion obsession.

Known for her playful yet sophisticated style, Carpenter turned heads in June 2024 when she performed at the Governer’s Ball New York.

She stepped out in a stunning custom baby yellow FROLOV dress and everyone fell in love. The corset style mini dress with its signature style heart cut-out and its intricate detailing perfectly embodied the soft yet bold look of butter yellow.

This soft yellow has now become a staple in Carpenter’s style, appearing in red carpet and gorgeous tour looks. She has embraced the colour with beautiful elegant silhouettes, delicate fabrics and a monochromatic styling further setting butter yellow as a trend in 2025. And honestly? We need more of it!

It’s not just designers and stylists embracing this colour, major brands are recognising its charm too. Over the weekend, KitchenAid, a brand known for using colour trends in home appliances officially declared butter yellow as their 2025 Colour of The Year securing the hues influence beyond just runways.

This warm inviting shade is being honoured due to its comforting, almost nostalgic feeling while still being fresh and modern. Much like in fashion where butter yellow is seen as a symbol of elegance, KitchenAid’s choice reflects a shift towards this soft colour that can add a sense of warmth and joy to someone’s life.

Beyond aesthetic appeal, butter yellow carries a strong psychological influence, making it a colour that not only looks good but feels good too. Often associated with warmth, optimism and happiness this shade evokes a strong sense of positivity and comfort, similar to a soft and gentle ray of sunshine.

Unlike bold, neon yellow which can feel a bit overstimulating, butter yellow offers that soothing and uplifting effect.

It’s no surprise that brands and designers are leaning into its calming yet refreshing nature, whether it’s in fashion or simply just home decor. Wearing or simply just having butter yellow around you can subtly boost your confidence and brighten even the lowest of moods, making it the perfect shade to add to your 2025.
