Is Topshop Returning To The High Street?

Could it be?

Were you a Topshop girlie?

Did you spend all of your wages in the Stephen’s Green store? Were you obsessed with the Kate Moss collabs? Did you descend into mourning when the high street shops closed down?

Lots of people did. In 2021, Topshop was sold to ASOS, meaning that the fast fashion brand would now only be available to buy online and via the ASOS app.

Last year, however, the digital giant sold 75 percent of Topshop and Topman to Danish retailer Bestseller… and it looks like they have some serious plans for the brand.

Today on Instagram, Topshop posted a series of posts with the captions “WE MISSED YOU TOO” and “We’ve been listening.”

They also shared a Reel depicting two models standing on a rooftop beneath a Topshop sign.

Could this mean the return of Topshop’s high street stores? Or are fans of the brand simply being too optimistic?

Well, Topshop’s website currently reads ‘coming soon’ with a link to buy on ASOS. That’s all we’ve got to go on at the moment, so it’s safe to say we’ll be keeping an eye on that Insta.

Topshop went into administration in 2020 and was bought by ASOS, along with Topman ans Miss Selfridges, in 2021.

Last year, three quarters of the brand was sold to Bestseller, in a deal that specified a return of the brand’s website.

ASOS later said that they weren’t ruling out Topshop’s return to the high street. “We might open stores. We will consider it for sure but we have no specific agreement to open a certain number,” they said.

At its peak, Topshop had over 500 stores across the UK, Ireland, and beyond.

It’s unclear whether the brand will be reopening physical stores or simply relaunching their website, but here’s hoping we’ll be finding out soon.
