Our Favourite (And Most Iconic) Oscars Red Carpet Looks Of All Time

Gorge.

The Oscars are an evening of glitz and glamour for Hollywood’s most elite. The Academy Awards have celebrated the best in film for many years, but they have also provided a platform for some of the most famous fashion moments in history.

With the 96th academy awards just around the corner, we’ve rounded up our favourite looks from the iconic award ceremony. From Audrey Hepburn to Zendaya we’ve covered it all!

Let’s take a look.

Best dressed at the Oscars in 2023, without a doubt, was Cara Delevingne. The model and actress stunned in a red ballgown designed by Elie Saab.

This is an example of a perfectly styled red carpet look. From the slick back hair to the red heels and Bulgari jewels – we’re obsessed!

Zendaya in Valentino (2021)

Zendaya is no stranger to having a little fun with her red carpet looks. When it comes to style the Dune and Spiderman actress can do no wrong in our eyes.

Many would argue that her yellow Valentino look in 2021 is her best ever, and we must agree that it is up there. The Bulgari necklace brings the look to another level. The jewels rang in at over 6 million dollars – too much responsibility for our liking.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Ralph Lauren (1999)

Our favourite out of touch queen Gwyneth Paltrow accepted her Best Actress Oscar for her role in Shakespeare in Love in a pink Ralph Lauren gown. Gwyneth re-wore her iconic dress for a promotional video for her wellness brand Goop late last year.

She recreated the entire look down to the diamond choker. The pastel pink gown was controversial with many either loving it or hating it, but you can’t argue that pink is her colour.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji (2012)

Octavia Spencer’s gown for her first Oscars in 2012 was everything. The Japanese American brand is one of the actress’s favourites with Octavia staying loyal to the brand for many of her red carpet looks.

The gown was amazing on her figure and accessorised perfectly. On the night, Octavia won an Oscar for her role in The Help, which was well deserved.

Lupita Nyong’o in Versace (2018)

Lupita in Versace is a dream. The actress has often got people talking about her red carpet looks but this one is a favourite of ours.

The Black Panther star wore a gold custom made Versace gown with a matching clutch and minimal jewellery letting the dress speak for itself. She was the look of the night that had people turning their heads.

Audrey Hepburn in Givenchy (1954)

Audrey Hepburn wore a floral white lace Givenchy tee length gown at the 1954 Academy Awards where she won Best Actress for her role as Princess Anne in Roman Holiday.

The dress was also worn in the final scene of the film. The “lucky” Oscars dress was sold at an auction in 2011 for £84,000 to a private collector.

Julia Roberts in Valentino (2001)

It’s hard to find a ‘best dressed at the Oscars’ list without Julia Roberts in Valentino on it.

In 2001 Julia Roberts won an Oscar for her powerful performance in Erin Brockovich. The Valentino gown is still spoken about to this day, and we can understand why. The Valentino dress oozed class and glamour and who better to pull it off than Julia?

Trey Parker and Matt Stone (2000)

Whoever invited these pair to the Oscars in 2000 definitely regretted it instantly when Trey Parker and Matt Stone (the creators of South Park) showed up high on LSD wearing recreations of two iconic gowns.

They recreated what Jennifer Lopez wore to the 2000 Grammys and what Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the 1999 Oscars. These two deserve an honourable mention with their Oscar looks still spoken about to this day.
