Sunburnt Beauty? TikTok’s New Ever-So-Slightly Controversial Makeup Trend
Want that I just fell asleep with my sunglasses on look?
If you haven’t accumulated a drawer full of liquid, cream, and powder blush in the last year or so, simply; where have you been?
The blusher market has been booming recently with makeup moguls taking full advantage of TikTok’s love for the rosy glow to create their blush products.
Rhode Skin, Rare Beauty, and Charlotte Tilbury, of course, the front runners in the booming blush business now have a new makeup trend to dab their makeup brush into, the sunburnt beauty trend.
Sunburnt beauty may sound slightly bizarre considering our efforts to prevent sun damage to our skin by wearing copious amounts of SPF.

However, influencers of this new beauty trend don’t recommend you ditch that La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Lightweight Invisible Fluid SPF50 (they would be cancelled for sure if that were the case), instead they instruct you to use some warm toned blush to achieve that healthy sun-kissed glow.
So now that we have clarified that there is no need to sizzle sans SPF under the scorching midday sun to recreate this viral beauty trend, your next question is no doubt: How do I perfectly execute and what products do I need to become a sun-drenched rosy-cheeked goddess?
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. The art of the sunburnt glow isn’t about sculpting to change the shape of your cheeks, instead, it is about enhancing your natural features for an I’m just back from the beach-esque glow.
Isabell Rose seems to have had a significant impact on this 2024 hot girl summer look. The makeup artist showcases some intense tan line makeup that is the epitome of I fell asleep on the beach with my sunglasses on.

The artist is heavy on the under-eye concealer to allow the blush to give even more of a sunburnt effect.
TikTok star Tabitha Swatosh demonstrated her recreation of the viral trend in a TikTok video. The self-proclaimed “big sister” of the internet explains that “you must prep your skin really well” and “hollow out your eyes with a really light concealer”.

One of the steps in influencer Bella Lövkvist’s eight step sunburnt makeup look involves mixing highlighter with blush for that added glow.

But hey, at the end of the day if people are swapping out their tanning oil for some spicy Margherita blush, who are we to judge?
