Animal Right Awareness Week is not spoken about nearly enough, and it takes place the third week of June every year! The week raises awareness about animal welfare and how to best protect and respect animals.
Each year, it’s observed to raise public awareness about global animal rights issues and speak up for animals that humans have exploited for millennia. In honour of this week, we’ve put together a list of some of our fav affordable makeup brands you can buy in Ireland, that are completely cruelty free!

But first – something to remember when you go shopping: Look out for the PETA logo. The cruelty-free certification is designated for companies that have signed a statement of assurance verifying that they and their suppliers do not conduct, commission, or pay for any tests on animals for their ingredients, formulations, or finished products anywhere in the world and that they pledge not do so in the future. This cruelty-free and vegan certification is designated for companies that meet the same requirements, plus their entire product line must be free of animal-derived ingredients.
You should also make sure to be careful of misleading labels. If a product claims to be ‘not tested on animals’, this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s completely cruelty-free. If you’re unsure of a company testing on animals you can double check here.
