No matter where you’re going, even if you haven’t gone anywhere in a while thanks to Covid-19, it still doesn’t change the fact that packing is a nightmare.

Trying to remember everything you need, humming and hawing between what can stay and what needs to be packed, asking yourself endless times over if there’s something you’re forgetting and let’s not get started on packing beauty and makeup products; what always feels like a heavy brick in any travel bag.

But the thing is, you don’t need to bring your whole vanity table nor do you need to take the easy route out and just scrap the lot for a wipe, instead, you can find a happy medium; actually we have a happy medium to give you, so just scroll down, screen shot and take note of our essential list for glowing skin when travelling, no matter what the elements throw at you.

Hair

Shampoo and conditioner – if possible, try and opt for the travel size versions of your own go-to hair care products, if these aren’t available, opt for a set of travel containers and pour your shampoo into one and your conditioner into the other to save yourself bringing the whole bottle (and excess weight) with you.

Dry shampoo – dry shampoo is always key for camping especially when a shower is not feasible but you want your mane still looking fresh AF. Dry shampoo is a great friend for getting another day out of your do’ – we recommend the Batiste range (shop it here).

Hair oil – and the last product on our hair list, hair oil. No bulky styling products on this camping trip instead, keep your hair sleek and nourished with a pump of hair oil. Not only does it tame the frizz and distressed look, it’s also great for styling your hair too (cute camper plaits) and also smells gorge! Our fave – OUAI hair oil (shop it here).

Skin

Cleanser – when it comes to packing skincare while travelling, a few essentials will do the job. A cleanser being one of them.

Serum – another important step in the cleansing routine, make sure you thoroughly cleanse, serum and moisture especially when you’re out in the outdoors all day.

Moisturiser – the sun can totally dry out your skin, so as well as making sure you drink plenty of water, make sure you’re using a hydrating moisturiser too and lather it on.

SPF – and finally, SPF is key. UVA/UVB sun protection is essential no matter what you’re at and this Dermalogica facial SPF will have you totally protected, plus it’s travel size (shop it here).

Body

Body butter – similar to your face, your body needs to be kept hydrated too and a good body butter will do the trick, keeping your skin supple.

SPF – again, similar to above, SPF is vital and this spray mist from Vichy is a lazy girl’s dream, no need to rub it in, no sticky residue, plus it’ll make your tan pop (shop it here).

Tinted moisturiser – and speaking of tan, a tinted moisturiser is always a good one to pack if you’re looking for a glow. Instead of bringing the whole bottle, use travel bottles and save yourself the weight by popping some of the product in a handy tube.

Accessories to bring…

  • Hair brush
  • Razors
  • Microfibre cleansing cloth
  • Towel
  • Hair ties and grips
  • Travel mirror
  • Tweezers
  • Sanitary products

Also, it goes without saying to pack your own makeup essentials if you’re planning on wearing makeup during your trip. Similar to how we’ve listed out the beauty essentials, all your usual makeup products won’t be needed on a wild weekend outdoors. Think essentials like lip balm, tanning face spray, concealer and mascara and you’ll be good to go!
