‘I F**king Did It!’: Kendall Jenner Is Pretty Damn Happy With Her Vogue Cover

As we learnt from 2009’s behind-the-scenes-at-Condé-Nast documentary The September Issue, September “is the Januooooary in fashion.”

Basically, the September issue of any fashion mag is über important as it marks the transition of seasons from Spring/Summer to Autumn/Winter. When it comes to September issues, Vogue is the Holy Grail, so you can understand Kendall Jenner’s barely-contained excitement to be appearing on the coveted cover this year.

“In a room with a bunch of people I love, looking at this cover made me cry. I FUCKING DID IT. SEPTEMBER VOGUE. this is the coolest thing ever! can’t thank you enough Anna, for giving me the honour,” Kendall wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the new cover.

Clad in a textured Gucci two-piece, it’s hard to tie in this image of Kendall with the awkward teen who grew up on in front of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians cameras, but the 20-year-old says her family’s fame helped to shape her career in more ways than one.

 “Obviously, my success came after my sisters’ – I got to see all of their mistakes and watch out for them,” she tells Vogue writer Jonathan Van Meter.

Despite having a charmed career path since Marc Jacobs cast her in her first high-fashion show back in 2014, Kendall says she had her fears about entering the world of modelling.

“Two years ago, when I first started this, I thought, ‘This is going to be so embarrassing. No one is going to accept me, and it’s going to be a complete failure.'”

Since then, she’s walked for Chanel, Gucci and Victoria’s Secret among others, but Kendall seems to still have her feet firmly on the ground, and she credits her family for that.

“If I’m being honest, my little sister [Kylie] and I have every right to go crazy,” she says.

“You would expect that from us. But neither of us has the desire to do that. I think it says a lot about the way we were raised. Not even just by my parents, but my Kardashian sisters and what they’ve taught us. My parents did something right, and thank God.”

As for her dad Bruce Jenner going public last year with his transition to life as a woman, Kendall says the Bruce-Caitlyn change has become just another element of her family’s backstory.

“It has gotten easier,” she says of getting to know her father as a woman.

“I knew it was going to have its rough phase. But it’s all supernormal now. It’s not weird at all. Sometimes I look at a picture of my dad when she was a guy, and it makes me a little sad—I get emotional. You have to get past it—you’ve got a new person to love.”
