Ewan McGregor Pulled Out Of A Good Morning Britain Interview Today To Avoid Piers Morgan
'Didn't realise @piersmorgan was host. Won't go on with him'
Ewan McGregor was due to appear on ITV’s Good Morning Britain earlier today to promote his role in the new Trainspotting sequel, but pulled out at the last minute when he realised he’d be sharing the couch with Piers Morgan.
Piers’ controversial comments about Donald Trump, and his negative stance on feminism have caused mountains of controversy in recent months, but his Daily Mail column about last weekend’s Women’s March was the dealbreaker for Ewan. Piers’ article, which blamed the march for lifting the lid on the “vile, crude, man-hating, violent, nasty side” of feminism, clearly struck a chord with Ewan (and thousands of others), and the actor said as much in a tweet this morning.
Was going on Good Morning Britain, didn’t realise @piersmorgan was host. Won’t go on with him after his comments about #WomensMarch

“Was going on Good Morning Britain, didn’t realise @piersmorgan was host. Won’t go on with him after his comments about #WomensMarch,” Ewan wrote around an hour before his interview was scheduled to take place.
Piers, and his co-host Susanna Reid announced the cancellation of the interview live on air, with Piers saying it was “a shame” and adding, “Maybe actors should just talk about their films and not get worked up about politics.”

Susanna jumped in soon after to say she took had taken “issue” with Piers’ opinion, and later tweeted to say she would have liked to have seen a “debate” between Ewan and Piers on their differing viewpoints.
Such a shame. Challenge views where there’s difference. Would have liked to see that debate on air – it’s an important one. #WomensMarch https://t.co/dSsMZ9mc46

“Such a shame. Challenge views where there’s difference. Would have liked to see that debate on air – it’s an important one. #WomensMarch,” she wrote in regard to Ewan’s cancellation.
Other media personalities tweeted their support of Ewan’s decision, with DJ Edith Bowman telling him to “pop over the road” to the Virgin Radio studio instead.
