Here’s Kate Middleton Casually Boarding A British Airways Economy Flight Home Last Night
No private jets for this Royal.
Kate Middleton can wear all the Topshop, Zara and Whistles dresses she likes, but at the end of the day she’s still a Royal. And when the Duchess of Cambridge is on official business with her husband William (or her mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth, for that matter) not a penny is spared. Private jets, red carpet welcomes, meetings with dignitaries, the whole shebang.
But when Kate travels alone, she has a bit more scope to do things “normally,” it appears. At least, she certainly took things down a notch last night when she flew home from Rotterdam to London after her first solo Royal engagement abroad.
The mum-of-two had spent the day in The Hague, visiting the Mauritshuis museum and meeting with children partaking in the museum’s young artist programme. Her plan for getting back to London before George’s bedtime? The last British Airways flight of the evening, obvs.
Imagine being on this plane and the freaking Duchess of Cambridge casually walks on. Do you or do you die?!?!?! #GOALS pic.twitter.com/Oj6uLUKGBu

Kate boarded the economy flight from Rotterdam to London City at around 7.15pm last night, and was shown to her seat in the front row of the plane. One source told the Daily Mail he had “never seen so many iPhones pop up at once,” as the Duchess’s fellow passengers rushed to snap a picture before she sat down.
Of course, the 34-year-old is still a member of the Royal family, and was escorted onto the plane by a number of bodyguards and a small team of assistants, who presumably took the other seats in the row. The plane landed “a few minutes early,” and Kate was reportedly brought off the plane first and into a waiting car on the tarmac at London City Airport, before the other passengers were permitted to disembark.
It was a busy day of travel for Kate, who took another scheduled BA flight out of London earlier that day, according to onlookers.
Scheduled @British_Airways flight for Kate to the Netherlands today. A bit of a surprise to see her hop on my plane at the last minute!

The Duchess’s visit to The Netherlands comes just a fortnight after her week-long official visit to Canada with William, George and Charlotte. Kate revealed that three-year-old George was “super excited” about the novelty of “sleeping on a plane” during the nine-hour flight from London to Vancouver.
