My 30 Day Yoga Diary Challenge: Day 9 – Dear Yoga, It’s Not Me, It’s You

Day nine of Laura Somers' yoga challenge, and today's class didn't go to plan. In fact, it didn't go at all...

yoga class

This is getting to be a bit of a struggle. Running along to yoga straight after work, mat in hand, no longer holds the thrill it once did.

The first eight days of yoga classes have been a novelty; something new and exciting I had never done before, but now the non-stop activity is having a detrimental effect on my energy levels and my sanity.

When I’m not in yoga class, I’m writing about yoga and when I’m not writing about it, I’m planning what to wear to it and when I’m not planning what to wear, I’m planning my day around the time of my yoga class. But last night was the last straw; I spent the whole night dreaming about yoga.

I actually woke up with my hands in front of my chest with the words namaste at the tip of my lips. It was then that I realised something had to give. I needed to re-introduce a social life into my weekly schedule.

This in mind, I ditched my yoga class and went for a drink with my friend. Don’t judge me, it was necessary, and my yoga instructor had encouraged me to take one day off a week during the challenge. I am not one to disobey orders.

I solemnly swear I will attend tomorrow’s class (with the hope of seeing the ride from yesterday) and best of all my sanity will (hopefully) be fully restored.
