4 Free Things To Do This Weekend
Didn't get a ticket to Forbidden Fruit or Slane? Don't panic, there's a whole host of cool events, festivals and parties on this weekend, and best of all, they're completely free.
Dance Festival Dublin
There’s loadsa of dance shows happening across town right now for the Dublin Dance Festival, and some of them are totally free – Yay!
On Saturday, if you get yourself to Smithfield Square at either 1pm or 4pm, you’ll be in for a treat. It’s a really unique outdoor event where you can watch groups of contemporary hip-hop break-dancers defying physics and doing their thing. This particular show is only one of the many events taking place, but there’s plenty more including dance parades and masterclasses. Here’s the full line-up.
Dublin Port River Fest
This is a jam packed festival of entertainment and fun, happening this weekend in North Wall Quay. There’ll be tall ships, kayaking, street performances and open air food markets. Not to mention loads of music and crafty exhibitions. If you want to have a nice, easy weekend, you should get yourself here. Let’s just hope the weather man is a bit off with his predictions…
K Fest in Kerry and The Doonbeg Jazz Fest
If you find yourself in or around Kerry this weekend, get yourself over to the K Fest festival. There’s an abundance of free gigs, pop up galleries, food, drink and fun to keep you busy.
If you happen to be in Clare, why not jazz things up at the Doonbeg international Jazz Festival? It’s starting on Friday and continuing until Monday. There’ll be swing, dixie, and jazz musicians playing in all the pubs and bars in town. If you like jazz but you’re in Dublin, there’s also a festival taking place in Temple Bar, The Down With Jazz fest.
After Party central
There’s loadsa Forbidden Fruit after parties taking place in Dublin this weekend too. Pygmalion is hosting big parties on Saturday and Sunday with appearances from some pretty big names. The South William is doing 40% off drink deals all day and night on Sunday and The Meeting House in Temple Bar is promising the mother of all birthday birthday parties on Saturday evening with free entry all the way through.
