6 Things To Do With Your Boyfriend This Weekend Instead Of Binging On Netflix

Put away the laptop and get out of the house. Here's are six things to do this weekend that are way more fun than watching another murder doc.

Special Cinema

The IFI Cinema in Temple Bar is a pretty hip little hangout. What’s more, there’s a bar and you can bring some drinks into the screening if you fancied having a few. They have all the regular films on show at the moment, as well as a selection of pretty unique ones. There’s also free screenings during the day on Saturdays, kicking off at 1pm. You can also check out the private cinema in Brooks Hotel in Dublin 2 where you can rent out the whole place.

Afternoon tea

We’re absolute suckers for Afternoon Tea, it just makes you feel so fancy. Most big hotels in the country do their on take own this luxurious treat so you can be guaranteed to find something close by. If you’re in Galway, head to The G Hotel and check out the impressive spread they serve there. In Dublin, head to The Dylan, The Shelbourne, The Conrad or The Morrison (we really can’t pick, sorry).

Stand up Comedy

Comedy-Crunch-dublin

This is honestly one of the most fun dates you can suggest and there’s stand up comedy nearly every night of the week. The Laughter Lounge in Dublin 1 is one of our favourites, and if you head to The Stag’s Head in Dublin 2 on Sunday evening, there’s free comedy and also free ice cream. Need we say more? Might be just what you need to beat those January blues.

Theatre

Our theatre culture is consistently thriving so do some research on what’s playing in a theatre in your area. Oscar Wilde’s The Importance Of Being Earnest is current playing in The Gate Theatre in Dublin 1, and it’s seriously entertaining. Tickets are only €10 and you can get a nice pre-theatre meal beforehand somewhere locally. Bernard Shaw’s You Can never Tell is also playing at The Abbey Theatre and that’s deffo worth checking out.

Museum

There’s an abundance of museums you can visit all over the country and you’ll be surprised at how enjoyable a trip to one can be. Our favourites in Dublin are The National Museum in Dublin 2, The Museum Of Style Icons in Newbridge Co Kildare, and The Irish Museum Of Modern Art in Dublin 8.

Phoenix Park

Phoenix-Park

If the weather allows it, why not stroll through the lovely gardens of one of our beautiful parks? If you’re in Dublin, head to Phoenix Park and check out the gatherings of baba deers and fawns trotting about the place. Otherwise, check out one of the many Farmer’s Markets that take place over the weekend.
