Searching for some dinner inspo? Or maybe you just like a nose (gal after our own heart)! Either way, we have the scoop on what some of our faves dish up in a day. This month it’s TV presenter and all-round great gal Laura Whitmore, who shares her love for food with us, from avo toast to chicken fillet rolls.
What is your go-to breakfast?
I was always one of those people who would run out the door and would skip breakfast but now, food has become such a routine and now I know it’s so important to start right. It can be everything from porridge, muesli or sourdough or soda bread with smashed avocado and a poached egg. It all depends on timing.
What do you usually have for lunch and dinner?
I’m enjoying cooking way more now, it’s not just cooking because you’re hungry. We always have our go-to, from student living I think, which is pasta dishes but as time goes on you get a bit more adventurous and so it’s still pasta but now I’ll make a sauce from scratch. I’m also using cookery books a lot more now that we have a bit of time.
What 5 items do you always put in your shopping basket?
I do love oat milk or almond milk, hummus, my corner shop sells Kerrygold, how exciting is that? So I always have butter in the fridge. I’ve been buying a lot more fresh fruit and veg too.
What are your favourite snacks?
When I’m at work, I always have a bag of almonds. There is normally dog treats and almonds in my bag so I have to be careful not to mix them up because they look similar!
What are the most used items on your spice/herb rack?
I love garlic. And I have garlic salt on everything. My other half loves chilli flakes, but I have to tell him to taste it first because sometimes you don’t need as much as you think!
What is your desert island dish?
I adore fish! And I love pasta too so a seafood linguine with loads of garlic and chilli.
Would you call yourself a foodie? Have you always been?
I am, but at the same time every time I’m home I have to have a chicken fillet roll. I’m in my 30s now, I’ve eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world yet still sometimes that’s all I want.

How do you stay motivated when it comes to fitness?
There is no better motivation for getting outside than having a dog! I also think going for a walk or an exercise with a friend. Pairing up with someone else makes you more likely to do it. And just remember the feeling, you might not feel up to it, but if you can remember how much better you’ll feel and how moving your body releases endorphins that can motivate you. This edit with Dare 2b has come at a really good time too, because our reason to leave the house now is to do some sort of exercise, and we’re all about being comfortable and wearing clothes that feel nice and that’s what this collection is.
Describe your ideal workout.
I’m not very good at the gym, but I have a friend who is a trainer and sometimes we work out together and I like that he links fitness with mindfulness. I think it’s really important to link the physical aspect to the mental aspect. I love yoga because it’s so much more than just a physical work out.
What is your #1 self-care tip?
If I feel really stressed out I do feel yoga is great. Even when I found out I was pregnant I could find one that works for what I was able to do. It’s nice to have fun with the clothes you’re wearing too. We should put on something that makes us feel good. Clothes are important, not just for big fancy events, day to day is important too. Why not wear something that kind of lifts your mood? The Dare 2b collection has beautiful turquoise, zebra prints, and colour so it’s nice to not just be wearing black activewear all the time.
