4 Date Ideas That Will Keep You Out Of The Pub
So you want to plan a date but you're sick of the local pub. You want to change things up a bit, we know, we've been there. Here are four things you can do this weekend that will keep you away from the boozer.
As Irish people, we’re big fans of date nights in the boozer but they can be heavy on the pockets. Especially in the run up to the festive season. If you’re doing a Dry November or just want a date outside of a pub, here are some charming ideas that will keep you occupied.
Open from Thursday to Sunday every week, The International Comedy Club is a great spot for a date. It features some of the best Irish comedians out there and the weekly line-up is excellent. It’s nice to do something a bit different and it’s guaranteed that you’ll be leaving with a smile. Shows are €10 and if you have a student card- it’s only €8. The Laughter Lounge is another place that’s definitely worth checking out.
Take A Hike
Although it’s bloody freezing outside, the weekend isn’t looking too bad and at least it won’t be raining. There are some lovely walks that you can go on including a 2 hour hike in Ticknock in The Dublin Mountains. If you have a car, head over to The Sally Gap or The Sugar Loaf in Wicklow and take in the scenery there. Finish off your walk with a well deserved Guinness in Johnny Foxes Pub. And a lovely hot bowl of soup.
Saturday and Sundays are now jam-packed with delicious markets all over the county and it’s a lovely place to spend an afternoon. On Saturdays, The Red Stables Food Market takes place in Raheny and it’s amazing. Think hand made chocolates, Artisian cheeses, and freshly baked bread and cakes. If you’re on the South Side of Dublin on Sunday, head straight to Dun Laoghaire and go to People’s Park. There’s nearly EVERY type of food stall you can imagine (get the dumplings) and also an abundance of arts and crafts things too. You might even pick up some Christmas pressies while you’re there. Walk the pier afterwards and get yourself a Teddy’s ice-cream. Howth’s a beautiful place for a walk too.
If you haven’t tried Afternoon Tea yet, you really need to get on it. It has surged in popularity recently and it’s not hard to see why. You feel a bit like a queen when you’re having a glass of champagne alongside your three tiers of mouth-watering treats and sandwiches. Check out some of our favourite packages in The Morrison Hotel, The Dylan and The Westbury. You’ll want to go back again and again. Promise.
