Off Out 26th March 2015 by Genevieve Wilson
What’s On This Weekend?
What's on? Um, stacks of stuff actually. From gigs to flea markets, we've rounded up where to go this weekend.
Market meandering
Fancy a fab day out? Martcade Thrift returns to Rathmines this Sunday. Whether it’s food, furniture, or vintage clothes that you’re after, it’s virtually impossible to leave empty-handed. (Trust us, we know!) The Berlin Style Food Hall features the MOST delicious food imaginable too #yum. It’s on at 190a Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, from 11am until 4pm. The 2015 March Flea Market also returns on Sunday to Dublin 8. You can check out all the details here.
Dinner at Taco Taco
Woohoo! Pay day is here and we can finally afford to dine out again. We’re pretty excited about the Taco Taco pop-up which just opened on Wednesday in Odessa. It’s run by the team behind San Lorenzo’s amaze-o Brunch Of Champions, so we’re DEFFO popping in for a bite. We’ll be having the shrimp popcorn tacos with some smoky bacon, black pepper and mozzarella fries #delish. They don’t take reservations but pop in between 5pm and late, and we’ll catch ya there!
Disco-ing at Diskotekken
Did anyone else love the movie Space Jam back in the day? You’ll wanna hit up The Discotekken Space Jam Party then so, cos The Sugar Club are screening it this Saturday. Even better? There’ll be a full BBQ and a cocktail making competition, five DJs, surprise appearances and a few Looney Toons characters floating about. Sure, what more could you want? Remaining tickets are €15 and are available here.
Gigs
There are a load of gigs across the country this weekend. If you’re in Meath, Damien Dempsey is playing in The Ashbourne House Hotel this Saturday from 8.30pm. Galway folks can take their mammies to see Mary Black in the Seapoint Ballroom from 8pm, (tickets are available on ticketmaster.ie for €31.50) and if you’re in Dingle? We recommend you go see The Strypes on Saturday night – They’re about to explode on to the music scene. They’re also playing in Bantry on Friday. Nab tickets from here for €15.
Telly
Not paid until Monday? Don’t fret, cos there’s a whole weekend worth of telly watching. Catch Alan Carr with guests Michelle Keegan, Elijah Wood and Morrissey on Friday at 10pm on Channel 4. Oh, and Netflix is pretty deadly right now too. Our picks? Check out Friday Night Lights – all five seasons have just gone live. Look out for Bloodline too. It’s an intriguing new series based around a family with a lot of secrets and sinister intentions. Rugby fan? Leinster are playing on Friday at 7.45pm, and Ireland are playing Poland in the soccer on Sunday at the same time. G’wan Ireland!
Online Shoppers
Planning on splashing the cash at home? Check out this Rodebjer pop-up sale which runs until Sunday. Some pretty lovely things. #wantsies
Happy Weekend!
