What’s On This Weekend?
Food festivals, gigs and world record attempts: We've rounded up the BEST stuff to do this weekend.
The VIP Style Awards
First things first, our sister mag VIP is throwing their annual Style Awards this Friday in The Marker Hotel. It’s the most fashionable celebrity event of the year and we can’t wait to feast our eyes on some of the fashion hits from the night. Check back on stellar.ie for lots of stuff from behind the scenes!
Dublin Bay Prawn Festival
If you’ve never been to The Prawn Festival in Howth, you should deffo take a trip out to the seaside village this weekend. Already one of the largest food festivals in Ireland, this year it’s gonna be even busier. Over the weekend there’ll be food tastings, food trails, cooking demonstrations and fishing demos. The festival starts on Friday and runs all weekend long. Yaysies!
Gui Borrato, Ben Pearse and The Young Folk.
Gui Boratto is kicking off a weekend of gigs on Friday. He’ll be playing in Opium Rooms at 11pm and you can get your tickets here. If you haven’t heard of The Young Folk, you should deffo give them a listen. They’ve been hailed as one of Ireland’s most promising new bands and they’re playing in Cyprus Avenue in Cork on Friday. (Tickets here.) You can catch Ben Pearse in action on Saturday in The Academy too. Get your tickets ASAP.
Set a world record in Smithfield
The Union of Students in Ireland will hold a world record attempt on Saturday. They’ll be attempting to form the largest human love heart. #Aww. Get down to Smithfield Square at 12pm on Saturday and show your support for love and equality – you’ll also be breaking a world record!
Vintage Factory Kilo sale
If you weren’t lucky enough to nab the first round of tickets for this sale, don’t fret. It’s on again this Sunday. You’ll find vintage clothes galore, and the best bit is you can pay by weight. At €20 a kilo you’ll have lots of retro fashion goodies to take home. The exclusive sale is taking place in Hangar on Andrews Lane and you can find out all the info here.
Hungry?
We’re dying to try Amuse on Dawson Street so we’ll be popping in there for a spot of lunch. The menu looks absolutely incredible and you can get two courses for €24 or three courses for €29, not too shabby at all when you see what they have on offer. Blue Fin Tuna anyone? Some glazed beef? Yes please.
