STELLAR promotion: Deliveroo want Ireland to have a National Hot Chicken Roll Day - who agrees?
It seems like there’s a ‘day’ for every kind of food – National Donut Day (, International Hummus Day (May 13), and National Bacon Week (June 25 – July 1).
But where oh where is National Hot Chicken Roll Day?
That’s what Deliveroo are wondering – they’re petitioning for Ireland to have a National Hot Chicken Roll Day to celebrate the deli classic. Here’s their reasoning:
The hot chicken roll is a notable Irish dish. Whether you’re feeling a bit unwell the morning after the night before or you just want a good feed, the hot chicken roll is a good old reliable meal. We at Deliveroo think it’s time that the hot chicken roll received the national recognition it deserves.
To underscore their point, they’ve teamed up with two of their exclusive restaurants to make decadent, artisan versions of the hot chicken roll.
Farmer Browns on Dublin’s Bath Avenue have created a crispy buttermilk chicken roll with greens, sweet onion, blue cheese mayo and a ‘bacon crumb’ topping:
While Aperitivo in Temple Bar have come up with a vegan (yes, vegan) chicken roll with vegan chicken, melted vegan cheese, roasted peppers, spicy pizza sauce and lettuce.
We certainly support the cause. Make National Hot Chicken Roll Day a national holiday in 2019!
