"It wasn't my choice."

Montana Brown was one of the big stars of Love Island 2017, despite ending up in fifth place with her then-beau Alex Beattie.

She’s since appeared on a few more reality shows – most recently, on Bear Grylls’ Celebrity Island (she likes islands, so she does), though she quit halfway into filming after declaring the survival show ‘too tough’ for her.

Back in May, a source told The Sun that Montana was concerned about not being able to eat enough, and was attempting to put on weight to ensure she stayed healthy throughout the challenge.

It seems her concerns were well founded, as earlier today she posted some shocking photos of her body after two weeks living on “limpet sh*t” on the island.

“For all of you that were like ‘Eurgh you look so skinny yuck!’ a few months back… it’s because my belly was full of limpet sh*t and that was probably about it,” she wrote.

Speaking on her Instagram Stories after posting the photos, Montana said she was getting messages from people who wanted to know how she lost that much weight.

She assured her followers that she didn’t want anyone to “aspire to look like that”, and she was not promoting “starvation”:

I got a few messages saying oh my god I want to look like that, how do you achieve that look – basically I was starving on an island and it wasn’t my choice. Let’s not aspire to look like that.

“I’m not promoting anything to do with eating disorders, because I know it’s not a funny joke, it’s something that’s serious,” she continued. “I didn’t choose to be like that, I wouldn’t choose to be like that. I’m very healthy, I eat lots of food now, but that wasn’t the case on the island.

“I just wanted to show you guys the effect being on the island had on my body. It was so tough. I was really shocked when I saw myself in the mirror after those two weeks, and obviously so are you. I spent a lot of time trying to gain weight after I left, so don’t worry about me.”
