More One Night Stands, Loads Love Porn, And Choking Is On The Rise: The Stellar Sex Survey Results Are Out
Drum roll please. We’ve got some results of the STELLAR sex survey 2016 to share. And they are… interesting.
Last month we issued a clarion call for you, our dear and devoted STELLAR readers, to talk about sex with us. And 852 of you answered, by responding to our annual sex survey, the results of which are published in the latest issue of STELLAR. Some stand out findings? One in five of you claim to be ‘very satisfied’ with your sex lives – high fives all round! – and 68% have had a one night stand. 53% are watching porn and we talk to three women about their channels of choice in the September issue, which is on shelves today. Let’s just say, Tumblr is not just a great place for Ru Paul reaction gifs. As for kink, we’re still riding that Christian Grey wave with 22% flirting with domination in the duvet setting and 17% trying out choking.
Below, we take a look at some of the stats that had us pausing at or desks. We’re talking positions, contraception, and why anal isn’t the taboo choice anymore.

Your favourite positions…
Doggy, reverse cowgirl and anal – you’re an adventurous bunch.
33 percent of our respondents claimed doggy style as their favourite position, with missionary coming in second with 29 percent and cowgirl putting in a decent 22 percent. We’re not mad into 69-ing. Only three percent enjoyed simultaneous oral sex.
Why did doggy triumph? Maybe because it’s ideal for deep penetration and is perfect for G-spot action. “It’s the only position I enjoy,” Rebecca admits. “I can really feel everything, and there’s something kind of dirty about it too.”
As for the sex acts women aren’t really feeling, only seven percent claim to have tried fisting. Rimming however is putting in a decent performance, with 24 percent saying they’ve tried it. 39 percent have participated in anal play.
In general, more Irish women are having anal sex. Last year, 36 percent said they’d tried some backdoor action, and this year 53 percent say they’re part of the club. However, when it came to enjoying anal, respondents weren’t singing its praises. 22 percent of those who tried it said they enjoyed it. 29 percent said it was not for them, while 25 percent ticked the ‘it’s grand’ box.
We need to talk about queefing
35% of you said you worried about making noises like queefing during sex. And that makes us angry sad. Vaginas are amazing and sex is messy and queefing is a natural thing. It’s a result of air going into your vagina, so not even your fault. However, if you really hate it harming the moment, stick to positions like cowgirl and missionary. Or do everything you want while blasting a very loud soundtrack. And if a partner ever has a problem with your natural bodily functions, they rescind all access rights.
The Morning After Pill
Ever since being made available over the counter, use of the morning after pill has risen. 62% of our readers have availed of it, with 39% of that group only using it once. 31% has used it twice and 6% has used it five times or more.
Why I’ve Used The Morning After Pill Five Times
“First two times, I was travelling in South East Asia with my then boyfriend. Condoms split on two occasions weeks apart. I couldn’t take the pill for medical reasons at the time, so don’t call me irresponsible. 18 months later I was seeing my now boyfriend. One night we realised the condom split – I was lucky pharmacies here could dispense emergency contraception. Years ago I’d have to go to a GP. A few months later I had started the pill after my health issues cleared up, but I was worried I hadn’t taken it properly as it was early days and I wanted to make sure I didn’t conceive. Then last year, I got a vomiting bug an hour or so after sex and taking my pill. I wanted to be sure I wasn’t going to get pregnant, as the pill can be ineffective when that happens. My womb’s still intact. ” Ellen, 26
