Rapper TI Says He Brings His 18-Year-Old Daughter To The Doctor To Check If She’s Still A Virgin

Gross.

TI has claimed that he brings his daughter to the doctor every year to check that her hymen is still intact.

The rapper was on the Ladies Like Us podcast when he was asked if he had given his kids the sex talk.

Speaking about his 18-year-old daughter Deyjah, he said: “I think that most kids in hindsight, looking back, they always thank their parents for not allowing them to damage themselves as much as they could have.”

Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynaecologist to check her hymen.

At this, the hosts burst into laughter – but TI went on to describe these visits to the gynaecologist, including one that happened just after her 16th birthday.

He said that the doctors have told him repeatedly that there are many ways that the hymen can be broken, like “bike riding, athletics, horseback riding and other forms of athletic physical activity”.

But he seems to think Deyjah has no excuse:

I say, “Look doc, she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bike, she don’t play no sports. Just check the hymen please and give me back my results expeditiously.” I will say, as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact.

As if this wasn’t gross enough, TI said he thinks Deyjah remaining a virgin will make her less desirable to men: “[Virgins] no fun. Who wants a virgin? Like really? All that work.”

His comments have unsurprisingly been met with backlash online, with people calling it “disgusting” and “controlling” for a father to demand this of his daughter.

In a series of tweets about the story, gynaecologist Dr Jennifer Gunter said that the hymen is “no virginity indicator, 50% of sexually active teens do not have a disrupted hymen.”

“The hymen means nothing physically. Hymen exams are medically not a thing, are unnecessary, and support a disgusting patriarchal trope,” she continued.

It’s also been pointed out that TI doesn’t expect his sons to be virgins – and in fact, an entire storyline on his reality show was devoted to him discovering his 15-year-old son King had had sex.

According to Instagram gossip account The Shade Room, Deyjah has been liking tweets calling her father “beyond possessive”:

Hopefully she has someone to talk to about all this.
