Maura Higgins stole the show on Love Island in 2019. Since her time in the villa, Maura has taken the world by storm, with clothing deals, and tan and makeup collaborations. The Longford native even nabbed herself a presenting role on RTÉ. You might think you know everything about Ireland’s favourite Love Islander but here’s 10 things you probably didn’t know about Maura Higgins.

1. She has two sisters 

Maura is the middle child in her family. She has two sisters, Becki her younger sister and Louise her older sister.

2. She missed her sister Louise’s wedding because of Love Island

Maura was sunning it up in Mallorca trying to find love when her older sister walked down the aisle. According to reports, however, Louise was completely fine with Maura missing her wedding and even gave her blessing to miss the big day as Love Island was a big opportunity for her. That’s some great big sister support.

3. She’s a Sagittarius 

Maura was born on November 25^th,1990, making her a Sagittarius. Sagittarians are optimistic, hilarious, fair minded and honest. They are also spontaneous, fun and usually with a lot of friends. That sounds like Maura alright!

4. She’s a big fan of her mammy 

The world fell in love with Maura’s mam when she appeared on Love Island while visiting Maura back in 2019. In an interview with VIP Magazine, Maura revealed that her mam is her biggest role model. “She’s a very strong woman which I’m thankful for because I’ve got that part of her now. She raised me to be independent and stick up for myself.” You really can’t beat an Irish mammy!

5. She featured in a visual shoot for Liam Payne’s hit single Get Low in 2017 

2 years before Maura shot to fame on Love Island, she featured in a visual shoot for Liam Payne’s single Get Low. And she looked fabulous doing so.

6. She’s a relationship person

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Maura describes herself as a relationship person.  “I hate being single. I feel like I’m very needy and I just like to have somebody there giving me all the attention 24/7.”

Maura coupled up with Curtis Prichard during Love Island. The pair stayed together until March 2020. Maura also known for her whirlwind romance with Chris Taylor, but the couple split in May 2021.

The Longford Native is now dating Strictly Come Dancing Star, Giovanni Pernice.

7. Her worst trait is talking over people 

In an interview before appearing on Love Island, Maura revealed that her worst trait is talking over people. Don’t worry Maura we’re all guilty of this at some stage.

8. She was a model before appearing on Love Island 

Maura was a model prior to her appearance on Love Island. Since leaving the villa, she has used those modelling skills during collaborations with Ann Summers, Bellamianta and Boohoo.

9. Her go-to beauty product is fake tan 

Maura shows her true Irishness when she reveals to Cosmopolitan that her go-to beauty product is fake tan. Maura’s collaboration with Bellamianta is a match made in heaven so.

10. Her celebrity crush is Chris Hemsworth 

Maura revealed in an interview that her celebrity crush is Chris Hemsworth, and we totally understand why!
