10 Beach Essentials We Can’t Live Without

We have been BLESSED with the weather lately and here’s hoping this sunny streak continues for the rest of the summer…

As a country that’s not used to the sunny weather, when it arives we do tend to lose our heads just a little bit. We forget how to handle it, what we need and what to wear. But one thing we ALL know to do when the sun peeks out is flock to the nearest body of water, and if you’re lucky enough to have one nearby, a beach!

Whether you’re jetting off or taking advantage of the rare sunny day here at home, here are all the essentials you need to make the most of your trip to the seaside!

Beach Bag

A good beach bag can make or break your day in the sun. You want something big enough to pack all your essentials, but nothing too hard to carry if you’ve a bit of a walk to the shore! This one from H&M has a sturdy strap and looks cute too!

Beach Towel

An obvious must have. This one from Joanne Hayes’ Dunnes stores collection is big to lie out on (or wrap up in depending on conditions), and the “It’s Baltic” print is all too apt.

Sun Cream

Ok, you’ve heard it before, but we can’t emphasise how important it is to protect yourself from harmful UVB and UVA rays! A handy aerosol spray will make reapplication a breeze and a waterproof formula means you’re still protected if you go for a dip! (Don’t forget the factor 50 for your face!)

 

Cooler Bag

A must if you’re in for the long haul! You can’t beat a chilled drink on a hot day, and this handy bag even has enough room for a few sandwiches…our mum would be proud!

Sandals

We love a pair of sturdy leather slip-ons for a stroll around the streets, but when it comes to the beach, think waterproof! These EVA Birkinstocks are just as stylish as the originals and come in a range of fun shades but won’t get ruined by the salt water!

Cover Up

A quick trip to the beach bar? Or maybe you’re just popping to the shop for ice cream. It’s best to have a quick cover-up on hand to throw on…even if it’s just to give your skin a break from the sun! This cute white button-up from River Island is an all-rounder that can double as a day dress.

Sunglasses

Style and practicality in equal measures. Save yourself from a day of squinting and look good doing it with a pair of cute sunnies. Bonus points for the added sun protection! Chunky frames are in this year and these ones from & Other Stories fit the vibe.

Speaker

Beach party, anyone? Ok, we’re not talking boom blasters here (a bit of respect for fellow beach-goers please), but it’s always nice to have a few background tunes when chilling with your pals in the sand. This UE Wonderboom is portable and water resistant but still packs a punch!

 

Hair Oil
