It’s here! Friday 22nd of September marks this year’s Culture Night.

That means we have lots of musical, artistic, literary and historic events to look forward to, with a whole host of options for whatever floats your boat when it comes to soaking up some culture.

All across the country will be exciting and interesting things afoot – but if you need a little inspo, look no further!

Here’s 12 events to check out for culture night tomorrow.

Dublin

Dying for a boogie? Queer party Strawberries invites audiences to come and get immersed in an electronic music event that will illuminate Meeting House Square tomorrow night.

This buzzy event will get you in the mood for a groove, from 10pm til midnight.  No need to book, just show up with good vibes!

The Way We Wore: Representations Of Social Change Through Clothing

Fashion meets history!

Join a public tour of The Way We Wore exhibition at Collins Barracks and discover the history of clothing and jewellery worn in Ireland from the 1700s to the 1900s.

This social history tour explores the history of clothing in Ireland, and what clothes can show us about life in the past.  It starts at 7pm and finishes at 8, and there’s no booking required!

Join Atelier Pops for the closing night of ‘Grit between my teeth’, a group exhibition featuring Irish and International artists, curated by Stephen Burke.

This exciting show “celebrates the raw, untamed soul of the city and its inhabitants.” Each artist drew their inspiration from the city around them, and have combined all kinds of materials, textures and styles to express their visions!

On from 4pm-8pm in Unit 5, Charlemont Sq (just around the corner from Atelier Now).

Harley’s StrEAT – Jazz On The Street

Good music and good food – what more could you want? Head down to Harley Street – beside the Metropole Hotel – for live music on Culture Night.

There’s also be some tasty bites and cocktails on offer from the selection of food trucks! From 4pm – 8.30pm.

For the crystals and astrology girlies; this one will be right up your street.

Head to Rosie Maddison’s & Gaia for a group exhibition of pieces inspired by Irish folklore and mythology, on from 5pm – 11.30pm. Gorgeous!

The Cultural Significance Of Trees Tour

A very wholesome tree tour will be taking place at University College Cork tomorrow.

From 5-6pm the ITEN team (Irish Tree Explorers Network)  will explore and celebrate the cultural significance of some of the gorgeous trees at the UCC Arboretum.

They’ll be meeting at the Western Road main entrance gate!

Sustainability Takes To The Streets Fashion Show

The ‘Sustainability takes to the streets’ fashion show will show off sustainable local crafts and fashion designers, showcasing the creative communities of Limerick!

It’s on from 6pm – 7.15pm and will be a fun and unique way of checking out the local fashion talents while promoting sustainability.

Taking place on Thomas Street, no booking required.

Get immersed in the art at the Spacecraft Studio Space!

Showcasing works created in the adjacent studio, Spacecraft’s Project Space is hosting an exhibition of works by their resident artists and associate members with interactive elements. Intriguing!

On from 6pm-9pm.

Sionna Music & Arts Festival

If you’re in the mood for a rave, Sionna Music & Arts Festival will sort you!

At King Johns Castle from 7-11pm, a mix of local and national DJ’s will be bringing “Le Boom Electro pop vibes”, powerful grooves and everything from trance to hip, acid and indie house.

There’ll also be food by Mexican Kitchen El Fuego.

Galway 

Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop Readings

Cosy up at Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop tomorrow night for a selection of readings from Galway authors!

There’ll be everything from poetry, historical and cultural pieces, to comic novels, academic writing and contemporary fiction.  The event starts at 6.15pm and runs until 9pm. Be there early if you want a good spot!

Sounds Like The Sea

A gorgeous and unusual Culture Night event is happening at the national Aquarium tomorrow – A Marine Musical!

This fun, family-friendly night is all about celebrating music & and life underwater, with performances from KaRoSal, Aoife Welby and composer Brian Keegan.

They’ll be showing a collection of short films made as part of Galway City of Film activities over the last two years. It’s family friendly and open to everyone, no booking required. Just make sure you wrap up well!
