A Deep Dive Into Taylor Swift’s Engagement To Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift’s engagement has the internet in a chokehold – and truly, there is no surprise there.

The Tortured Poet announced on Tuesday evening (afternoon US time) that she and Travis Kelce were engaged to be married.

The pair’s relationship has been a considerable talking point over the past few years in the world of celebrity. And seeing as Taylor is right now in the midst of her album roll-out, and NFL season is about to kick off again, what better time to pop the question?

Here’s everything we know about the engagement so far.

So, Taylor and Travis are engaged

They are! The pair announced the news on Instagram on Tuesday, alongside a few photos of themselves surrounded by flowers.

The post included shots of Travis down on one knee, the couple embracing, and of Taylor’s massive ring (more on that later). The shoot took place in Lee’s Summit, a garden in Missouri known for their gorgeous flower collection.

Taylor and Travis included the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Cute.

When did Travis propose?

According to Travis’ dad, he actually popped the question a few weeks ago.

Ed told ABC News 5 Cleveland that Travis asked Taylor to marry him in Lee’s Summit while they were on the way to dinner.

“I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event,” he said.

“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event, when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”

He went on: “He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine… They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful.”

What’s the story with the ring?

They ring is, unsurprisingly, very pricey.

According to Forbes, it’s an 8-carat Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond set on a gold band. This particular cut of diamond is believed to date between the early 18th century to the late 19th century.

Jewellery brand VRAI said: “Old Mine Cut diamonds are square shaped with rounded corners and have 58 facets. However, no two Old Mine Cut diamonds are alike. You can recognize one by its small table, larger culet and high crown.”

Although we don’t know the exact cost of the ring, jewellers have estimated the piece to cost between $550,000 and $1 million.

Travis reportedly worked with with Kindred Lubeck from Artifex Fine Jewelry to design the ring.

When will Taylor and Travis wed?

We don’t know when the pair will get married yet, but if their relationship so far is anything to go by, we won’t be waiting too long for Taylor’s Love Story to become a reality.

The pair started dating in the summer of 2023. During that time, Taylor attended many of Travis’ NFL games and he appeared on stage with her during the Era’s tour.

It’s unclear whether the couple will opt for a big public wedding or a private affair.
