A Definitive Ranking Of Girls Aloud’s Top 10 Songs (According To Me)

I will not take questions at this time.

Girls Aloud are back.

It’s happening, finally. The queens of pop announced this week they would be embarking on an arena tour next year (yes, that includes Dublin and Belfast) and to say I’m excited is an understatement.

Girls Aloud were my first pop obsession. I bought all of their albums. I had their singles. I forced my friends to make up dances to their songs in the yard in primary school.

I adored them, and still do. And when they descend on the 3Arena next May you best bet I will be sat.

The band announced their Girls Aloud Show tour on Wednesday – a celebration of their fans and music, and tribute to the late Sarah Harding, who sadly passed away in 2021.

In order to mark this momentous occasion, I’ve put together a definitive ranking of Girls Aloud’s top 10 songs. There are deep cuts, there are album tracks, there is no Stand By You because I don’t like that song.

Enjoy, and do not @ me.

10 – Love Machine

Yes, the beloved Love Machine is at number 10 on this list. Why? Because it’s excellent, but in my opinion there are 9 other GA tracks more deserving.

9 – Graffiti My Soul

Don’t knock it til you try it, okay? Graffiti My Soul is a song. In fact, it’s about 7 different songs in one song, and all of it works.

8 – Whole Lotta History

The only ballad on this list, and deservedly so. Grab your tissues, tie your hair back, and get ready to ugly cry, girls.

7 – Swinging London Town

One thing about Girls Aloud? They’re going to sing about locations in the UK. And Swinging London Town is a pretty good example of that.

6 – Wake Me Up

I listened to this song on repeat for days on Now That’s What I Call Music 61. Days.

5 – Can’t Speak French

My girls didn’t pass their Leaving Cert oral, and hey, that’s okay. They still managed to re-record this song is actual French. Iconic.

4 – Biology

What is this even song about? Doesn’t matter, it’s a banger.

3 – Sound of the Underground

Their first ever single straight off of Popstars: The Rivals, and man, if this track hasn’t stood the test of time. Blast that guitar intro and I’ll kick a door down.

2 – Untouchable

The 6 minute version. Just listen to it.

1 – The Promise

The video. The chorus. The Sarah Harding bit. The Promise is the best Girls Aloud song. I will not be taking questions at this time.
