Brooke Houts is now under investigation for animal cruelty

An American Youtuber is under investigation after accidentally uploading footage of herself abusing her dog.

Brooke Houts uploaded a video in which she attempted to prank her Doberman puppy by putting plastic wrap across a door frame. However, in the footage she accidentaly left in, the vlogger can be seen slapping the dog, pushing him hard and even holding him down and spitting on him.

Some twitter users managed to save the video before Brooke deleted it from her channel.

We’ll warn you though that it’s a pretty distressing video and not easy to watch.

After the video went viral the LAPD launched an investigation into the Youtuber.

“Our Animal Cruelty Task Force has received numerous complaints about the video… and we are currently looking into the matter,” an LAPD media representative told The Verge.

Brooke issued a lengthy statement on Twitter about the incident.

First, she apologised to “anyone who has been affected negatively by the footage.” She explained that when the video was shot, “

The youtuber added that she didn’t want to play the ‘victim card,’ but that ‘things in my outside life have been less than exceptional and that she’s ‘rarely as upset’ as she was during filming.

She added that while this does not justify her actions, she behaved the way she did to teach him…

“When he is jumping up in my face with his mouth open, I, as a dog parent, have to show him that this behaviour is unacceptable.”

“But I want to make it known that regardless of what my dog does, I should not have acted that way towards him,” she added.

She said that she treats her dog well and is in the process of training him.
