Amanda Bynes Has Opened Up About Her Past Drug Abuse In Her Comeback Interview
Amanda PLEASE return to our screens!
We haven’t seen a lot from Amanda Bynes since she slightly flew off the handle a few years back, using Twitter as a medium to troll other celebrities and voice her erratic opinions. Cosmetic surgery left her looking somewhat unrecognisable as the teen actress we first saw her as and she all round just seemed unhappy.
Now, Amanda has opened up about her struggles with her mental health and drug abuse in a tell all interview with Paper magazine.
Some of Amanda’s most well-known roles include those of the star of Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show and Channing Tatum’s co-star in She’s The Man. She’s The Man is known for being the film the catapulted Channing Tatum’s career into success, however Amanda remembered it as something entirely different.
“When the movie came out and I saw it, I went into a deep depression for 4-6 months because I didn’t like how I looked when I was a boy,” she admitted. She described it as “a super strange and out-of-body experience” that put her “into a funk.”
Before retiring from acting in 2010, Amanda acted in one of our fave rom-coms Easy A, which starred Emma Stone. It was her last film to date, however she said her perception of the movie and acting was warped entirely due to her near-constant Adderall and marijuana abuse.
“I was high on marijuana when I saw that but for some reason it really started to affect me. I don’t know if it was a drug-induced psychosis or what, but it affected my brain in a different way than it affects other people. It absolutely changed my perception of things.”
After retiring, she said she would be “stoned all day” and it wasn’t until her parents intervened that she got her life back on track. She decided to get into fashion design and will be completing her Associate’s of Art degree in Merchandise Product Development this month. She’s going for her Bachelor’s in January before she plans to return to acting.
Like us, the people of the internet are THRILLED Amanda is getting her life back on track, and have taken to Twitter to praise the star for overcoming her struggles.
