Back In 2007, Kodaline Were ’21 Demands’ And They Looked VERY Different

The last nine years have been kind to the lads, tbh.

They count Ed Sheeran as a bestie, they spent last summer hanging at Courteney Cox’s Malibu house, and their songs have appeared on everything from Grey’s Anatomy to The Fault In Our Stars.

Dublin fourpiece Kodaline are one of the most successful young bands to come out of the country in recent years, but like all musicians, they had to start somewhere.

That “somewhere” fact, RTÉ’s You’re A Star TV talent comp, where three of the band’s current members – Vinny, Steve and Mark – made it to the final as 21 Demands.

Given that the band has since lost a member (Conor Linnane), gained another one (Jay Boland) and had a name change, it’s not often we get to see a throwback picture of the gang as they were then – but today our sister mag VIP came up trumps with just that.

Back in 2007, 21 Demands posed for a shoot with VIP where they talked about the Leaving Cert , their You’re A Star audition process (it involved posting a CD to RTE, FYI) and touring with The Thrills, The Blizzards and Republic Of Loose.
