#BoobsOverBellyButtons: The Body-Positive Campaign We’re Totally Getting Behind

Introducing the counter-movement to the #BellyButtonChallenge. This new body-loving trend comes with a much more positive message.

Earlier in the week we told you about the #BellyButtonChallenge, a worrying trend, that had thousands of girls posting selfies of themselves wrapping their arms around their backs to try and touch their belly buttons, in a bid show they had a “good figure.” The craze was widely slammed for body-shaming and promoting an unhealthy body image.

Now though, it’s been replaced by something much more positive; the #BoobsOverBellyButtons Campaign.

Started by British lingerie company Curvy Kate, and partnered with breast cancer charity CoppaFeel, the campaign is a selfie-based trend promoting a message of body acceptance and self love, and also encouraging women to check themselves for breast cancer. We <3.

We want to encourage you guys to check your boobs and get to know what normal feels like.

“There are a heck of a lot more important things to be checking on your body than whether your arms are flexible enough to reach all the way around your own torso,” Curvy Kate wrote on their blog.

“We want to encourage you guys to check your boobs and get to know what normal feels like… rather than doing these ridiculous body-shaming (and downright painful) demonstrations.”

But what is normal? And what should you be looking out for when you self-check? Curvy Kate have included this handy guide.
